Management Companies in PS

Hey all,

Could you guys let me know the names/numbers of some of the bigger rental management companies in Park Slope? I'm considering moving as my current landlord thinks 15% rent hikes in this market are reasonable. Any help you could give would be great, I hear that going to the management company directly saves lots of money and that you get a better place in general.

Thanks!

  • Are you moving from Manhattan? Brooklyn rental market relies way less on management firms. Most properties are owned by small landlords who manage their properties themselves.
  • No, I've lived in Gowanus for the last two and a half years, 15th and 3rd area...

I've worked with several people at Goldin over the years. I don't recommend working for them but they do manage a lot of condos and coops. They are scumbags but honest scumbags.

  • I would stay away from anything managed by Dermot at all costs. They have never, ever addressed a request for maintenance, despite several letters and many phone calls. :(

  • Dermot also pulled a bait-and-switch deal on us.. when we showed up to put down a deposit, cashier's check in hand, all the paperwork filled out to exacting specifications.. it was all, "Oh, that (too good to be true) place just rented, but you should take a look at these.." I know that apartments getting snapped up at the last minute is all part of the game, but it felt fishy to me, since they had insisted this place had not been taken when we asked at the close of business the day before.
