Wine stores?
I am racking my brain to remember the name of a couple of liquor/wine stores in the neighborhood so I can call them to see if they have a bottle of wine I want.
I searched an online phone book and found 3 stores-but, I know there are 2 others that I couldn't find listings for.
Does anyone know the name of the place on 7th Avenue between 8th and 9th street across from Smiling? And, how about the place on 5th Avenue across the street from the 5th Avenue Key Food?
Or, can anyone recommend a place where I can find a bottle of wine from the Napa Ridge winery-I want a cabernet sauvignon. I already tried Red, white & Bubbly and Shawn's-Big Nose and Slope Cellars aren't open yet.

The place on 5th Ave is called Sterling Grapes. Don't know if this is their corporate name, but give it a try. Their is a great wine store on 5th near Union Street called "White and Bubbly." They have a wide selection of good wines.
Good luck -
thanks-i tried Red, White & Bubbly first and they didn't have it. will try the other now.

love those scrollable maps . . .
Big Nose Full Body is good, but small (curated) collection
and closer to Flatbush on Fifth Ave there's another place run by former BNFB people, supposed to be good. Slope Cellars is another name, never been there.
and best of all, not in brooklyn tho
Astor Wines is moving a couple blocks, and having great sales to thin out the inventory. This week is 25% off American, Australian, and South African wines. Last week was 25% off Portugal, Spain, Argentina, and Chile. It's a dream come true . . . and I think they have free delivery if you buy over $100 worth. I'm headed there tonight . . .
Washington State, mmmmmm -
Thank you! Those scrollable maps are great!

Theres a new place on 5th and St Marks called "Sip: Fine Wines". Its a nice store, but I've never heard of a single wine they carry in there.

So either they're really good or they're really bad, eh?! -

Love, love, love the staff at Slope Cellars.
For cheap prices, the place on 5th btw. 14th/15th (I think it's called Bay River) is the lowest I've found in town (good to know when you have to buy for a party). -

I bet they are really cool - BNFB is like that too.
Unlike Red White and Bubbly, where every recommend I've ever gotten from them is just not on.
damn, I forgot to go to Astor -
I checked out Astor Wines online-but they didn't have the one I want. I did find a place on 82nd Street and 1st Avenue that has what I want-but they want $14 for delivery to Brooklyn.
I got myself hooked on this Cabernet Sauvignon I had at a restaurant this weekend and no one around here has it-:p and, they will only order it if I buy a case. So-SOOL there. Thanks -

Prospect Wine Shop. I always get great service there, as well as Red, White & Bubbly. -

I've only had one bottle from there... it was pretty good. -

Great selection there. The owner was a sommelier at a top restaurant in Manhattan and knows his wines. Every recommendation has been spot on. -

can't find the # -
Sip Fine Wine Inc
67 5 Av, Brooklyn, NY 11217
(718) 638-6105
Thanks for the recommend-they aren't open yet-but I will try them later. -
There is also Fermented Grapes on Vanderbilt (http://www.fermentedgrapes.net) they seem to have a nice selection. If all else fails there is a great place in downtown Manhattan called Famous Wine & Sprirts (40 Exchange Place) (212) 422-4745. I have had them ship wine to different cities so they will ship it to you.
-
Yes, I have found places that will ship wines to me also-but, it will cost about $14 to ship 3 bottles-that seems a bit pricey to me. I will check them out though-oh, where on Vanderbilt is the other place you are talking about?

OK-I officially give up-thanks for your help everyone -but, no one carries this wine that I want. So-I will either have to order an entire case of it (and then someone from one of the local liquor stores will do it for me) or get it from the place on the upper east side of manhattan. Thanks for all your help though!

Its between Park and Prospect (718) 230-3216.

I was at Astor yesterday - they have free delivery in Brooklyn if you're stocking up WOOHOO
Anyway, they have other wines from Napa Ridge, so it's not too much of a stretch to think they'll stock the cab once they move to the new location and build their stock back up. -

I love Slope Cellers on 7th Ave. around 15th street. I know very little
about wine but everytime I ask for a recommendation its been great.
Also, if you buy one bottle at a time, as I do, they give you a card
(like some coffee bars do) and the 13th bottle of wine is only 99 cents!
It's a nice reward so when I need to pick up a bottle of wine I go out
of my way to go there.
Howdy, Stranger!
