Cattyshack ... what happened?

I'm a hetero male and they have always been very friendly to me on Sunday mornings when I went to watch my Packers lose. Maybe if they don't like you it's for another reason other than being a hetero male?
-
all hetero males: if you´ve been treated poorly there, it had more to do with you than your hetero status. I´ve seen friends -- a hetero couple - grinding and making out on that dance floor. and, when I´m not there with men, I see other hetero couples coming in. it is a club. and during sports season (aka all year) they have a significant hetero population, mostly male, in attendance during the day to watch the big screen, pig out, and drink piles. I think it is a hit with anyone who can deal with it.
shit. my MOM loved giving the go-go dancers money one saturday night. we had a blast.
finally, someone PMd me and noted that I hadn´t mentioned that the poker games have always been for charity. nothing illegal about that. no cash prize, no for real gambling, etc. just a game, and money - much needed - to worthy organizations.
and, as bigguy said, I´ve made a ton of friends there. I miss it here in ecuador and looked forward to heading there next time I arrived in NYC. everyone I know from there has stayed in touch with me somehow.
regarding carnivore: considering a barkeep let him take over her ipod, I would say folks were EXTREMELY welcoming to him, mr married-to-a-woman-dude. -

If you are going to dislike me so, at least grant me the dignity to GIVE you a proper reason. Fact is I've been on my best behavior there. Sober, charming, engaging, friendly, and ew... i just puked in my mouth a little. Swallow. Sorry.
Yes, I know that on Sunday morning/afternoon they temporarily suspend their not so silent hate policies. They know there isn't an off the wagon dyke who gets up a tick before 2:30pm on any given Sunday.
Funny thing is I get along well with the clientèle. I'm quickly identified as straight and shortly thereafter discovered to be normal. At which point I've had more than a few great conversations revolving around girls, their quirks, and various testicle and testicle-less perspectives on, well, sex..
..and how to get from our respective barstools into a sweaty, sex filled bedroom with a flawless, exhausted, big eyed brunette, satisfyingly sighing herself to sleep next to us.
Why does management hate me? -

There needs to be women-only spaces in our society, and lesbians were here in park slope first dammit! I don't care how "friendly" bi or hetero men are, because it is in women-only space that a woman’s voice can be heard on her own terms. In women-only space she is free of the ‘male gaze’, free of the spectre of patriarchal judgement, that in mixed space- aka the ‘real world’- threatens to denounce, silence, talk over, sexualize, appropriate, or ridicule her voice; like you are doing here.
You seem to be saying if Brooke tows the patriarchal line, she will be successful and accepted. Too bad. Lesbians need spaces where they don't have to tow the line.
I will add that those women who think that there is no issue of male voices drowning out women’s, or of male presence affecting what women say and whether they even say it at all, might want to consider that not all women are as confident or comfortable in mixed space. -

...and cattyshack was never a women-only space; unfortunately, those are economically unfeasable in nyc. i am speaking of the big picture here; (white male patriarchy) and it infuriates me that women's voices have been silenced in the name of political correctness. of course many of these same women were the ones fighting for (pre op) transgender inclusion which opened up the michigan womym's music festival to just about anyone who "identifies" as a woman. so..hmm..today i'm going to "identify" myself as a PTSD veteran so i can kick some ass...
political correctness = intellectual defeat. -

Chipster...Seems like your mind is exploding with thought.
While we applaud and appreciate your comments, please take your lips off of the nitrous hose for a second and try to make a point.
Are you really calling for segregation? Do you think that women lack the strength to be heard in the public space.. a public space welcoming to all those willing to be affected and criticized by the publics' opinion?
They have mountains and islands and various other sorts of asylums willing to house those not willing to allow the public to act as a mirror, as a contradiction, and as means to better themselves.
Are you calling for isolation?
Frankly, I don't want to be political and I could care less about being "correct" in a world that knows not right from wrong.
Policies of isolationism, of fear, and of dubious diplomacy have no place for a people who, admittedly, have not been treated fairly. -
