I have heard of this type of violent behavior in Europe but not really here. I am so sorry you were a victim. What can be done about this? Maybe one teen must be made an example of .... real jail time... in real jail.

The youths are angry to see white people in their hood. They see it as a direct threat.

I live a quiet unassuming life in a neighborhood that I can afford, and (excepting last night), it is a neighborhood that I like for its tone and feel. It's not uppity - it is real. I don't like the park slope hoods, they are not for me. I don't cause trouble, I don't make complaints. I don't ask my neighborhood to accommodate me. I am a good neighbor. I chose to live here because I like the fact that it's a neighborhood where people say hi and talk to each other and hang out on stoops and interact. And I treat my neighborhood with respect. I don't ask it to change for me, or because of me. At the same time, I do understand that I am a minority here, but that does not make violent acts okay, and it does not make your hostile tone okay. By your tone and your attitude, you are implying that it is okay to inflict violence and harm on people and I just do not understand the logic in that.

I say: unprovoked.

I never once said it was ok I just said why it happened. It will be happening more and more too as times get worse. Miss me with the "some of my best friends are Black" old tired bullshit please.

I witnessed it right there in 11205. you fucking devils calling the cops on the old men playing cards and dominoes on their table outside on saturday. making ridiculous noise complaints while thinking its perfectly fine to blast opera out your window. calling the cops on completely innocent youth sitting on a bench in the park troubling nobody because you think they "look suspicious" and then you wonder why your ass gets beat after they got interrogated and harassed for a half an hour for no reason. you took over the fucking community garden too. Just like fucking cockroaches.

sorry cafe - i'm here in 11205 and i'm here to stay so you can just suck it. perhaps if the old timers in the hood were a little more respectful to the new comers and dropped the sense of entitlement the newcomers would show a little more respect. respect is earned, it's not a right. look into the mirror and let those without an attitude cast the first stone.

After the areas Indigenous people have smacked everyone around then the ancestors of the Dutch settlers of Brueckelen can have a go at smackin' y'all. And so on, and so on ....

So, cafeaulait, why don't you make it easier for the Indigenous people and the ancestors of the Dutch settlers when they come back to the 11205 and wear a big sign that says Please Smack Me Upside The Head.

On behalf of all the folks who make this diverse part of Brooklyn our home we would definitely appreciate it.
