City Market — Brooklynian

City Market

I know this is a new board but I thought I'd start with something I've been wondering for the last month or two:

What happened to City Market Cafe? It was closed and boarded up and is spontaniously (nearly two months now) opened and serving! What's the deal??

Comments

  • They're open again? This must have happened in the past week or
so because they were boarded up last weekend.
I always liked the way they described their burgers as "fire-kissed."

I just noticed it today. I actually witnessed a meeting in front of their doors two days ago and was shocked that they were going to be back in business. I thought it would be just another overpriced business lost on Montague 8)
  • I just looked at the guest name and had to laugh!! That's just silly
  • I speak the truth! Hazelnut & Nugget say hi.

I thought that might be you :D You should have them join the board!

City Market was never extremely dirty and I always saw them cleaning so I don't imagine it was a health code problem (Otherwise Happy Days Dinner would be C-L-O-S-E-D!) So I'm puzzled why they would waste the rent money...

So what is the deal with Happy Days? I won't tell you what I've seen there before, but is it known to be, as they say, "unclean?"

There was actually an article in the Daily News or some smuttier paper that listed a bunch of "no-go" places with failed inspections. Happy Days happened to be very high on this list.

From personal experiance, the booths are filthy, you can see all the equipment in the back is going to the wayside, etc. etc....

But do dish, what have you been privy too??

Blehehhchchhc,. Sorry [swallow remaining vomit].. That place is good at one day/time only: Sunday 5:30 am. And its not because they just whipped up a fresh batch of "eggs", its because you're so wasted you'll put anything in your stomach. I remember going there and ordering pancakes, and I received a limp pile of sad-looking, brownish green, lukewarm spongy discs with a hunk of cold butter on top.
