am, what does "make the scene feel safe" mean? It's either safe or not safe. It usually only takes a few minutes for responding officers to determine if somebody was hurt, how badly they were hurt, how they were hurt, if there is an ongoing threat to public safety and if there is possible evidence that could be destroyed. After that it's a matter of everybody showing up so they can say "Oh, yeah, I was at that shooting" or "make sure you put so-and-so on the report as notified."

Seriously, this shooting was practically outside my building. I came home half an hour after it happened to find most of the street and sidewalk blocked off, detectives all over. One had to escort me to my building since I came from the St. Mark's side of Franklin. I asked what happened, they told me and I left them to do their job. The danger had passed, I wasn't there when it happened, and I didn't need any hand holding.

From what I heard, this guy just got out of jail, came home and got shot. Friends of mine who "know" about stuff like this suggested he snitched and this was the payback. Sucks, guy was 24 years old (I think).
