You're exactly right. I live on the block and when walking by about a month ago, my neighbor poked his head in and asked the workers what was going on... or rather, what was going in! Yup, they said that it'll be a little place to grab some joe and a bite to eat.
Anyone know what's going in there????
Here's to hoping for a coffee shop and or small cafe... -
any idea of the projected opening date? I haven't seen much work going on there.
-
You know, I think that he did tell us a projected date, but I can't remember what it was... When I looked in the other day, it looked like the sheetrocking was done, there's a counter top in place, too... I wouldn't be surprised if it's coming down to the waiting game with city inspections, etc... I'll look in again today.

ah, I love this board. I walked by here (I think) on my way home from C-Town, and the place is shaping up. Coffee, indeed. The place pretty much looked finished save for some cleanup, but I didn't feel like setting down my groceries and poking my head in. Woo!

Yeah, I did poke my head in the other day (I've just had my hands full- no time to report!), and things are shaping up! The front counter looks like it's only roughed in (plywood) but the walls have been painted and there are some Ikea-like lighting fixtures in place. I didn't see anyone inside, so no new info on an opening date, but it doesn't look to be too far away!

I spoke to a woman yesterday who was coming out of this space and she said they are shooting for a May 1st opening.
She said it would be a cafe, including beer and wine. -
Great, a new place to eat and drink!! And its really close by!!
-
figures, as soon as i find a buyer for my apartment they open something useful right on the corner
this is great for the nabe, though i question the location mainly because this corner and the street outside are very noisy, especially in the summer when kids hang out and play basketball every day right there; it's also a bit "off the beaten path" for most folks.
i do hope they do well, though. we need more establishments like this. -
that path is well-beaten by me. i'm excited!
-
I'll be beatin' it too -- that's two blocks from my new place. Awesome!

yeah! my hubby will totally be into it... he loves kickin bak & readin the paper at a good cafe... -
I'll definitely stop by there... basketball game or not...

Maybe a business, and a determined business owner, is what the corner needs to break up the nightly hangout spot. When I first moved to the block, I was amazed at number of young (some VERY young) kids staying out well in to the night.
