How many dogs must die and are our children next?
ConEd killed another dog in Park Slope yesterday. As you can see from the picture in this article, this wasn't some little 10lb dog, it was as big as a small child. It easily could have been a child that this happened to.
This is the second dog killed by stray voltage in the past two months.
I urge anyone with concerns to contact your local councilmen/women, community board leaders, Bloomberg, ConEd, and anyone else who will listen. This problem needs to be fixed ASAP before more dogs and even people are seriously injured or killed.

Does anyone know of any non-conductive dog booties that are available? All I can find are ones with cloth or leather bottoms. Are there ones with rubber?? Or maybe baby booties with rubber? I'd rather be safe than sorry.

An untapped market? If you make them, you should patent them! -

Subject: I am so sorry
I've been away for the week and just found this thread. I feel awful - my dog was shocked twice at the location in front of the Con Ed station in Park Slope. Maybe because he is large, shepard/routweiller, he survived. I was the person who reported it about a month ago; after telling 3 different drivers of Con Ed trucks in the Slope, and then complaining at the booth in front of the Con Ed location, I spent half the day on the phone with them. They were really helpful and I gave them a good description of where I thought it happened exactly, but they said they checked it out and found nothing. I stressed it only happened in the wet weather, because we walked that way every day for 2 months. The first time it happened, I thought it was rock salt. The 2nd time, I figured it out and we changed our route and I started complaining. They wanted me to come down in person and show them where it was, but I felt I had described it accurately and they had understood and there was nothing to be found. I did encourage them to test for it another day in wet conditions, because the day they looked it was dry. If the owner of the dog who passed wants to contact me directly, I am at [email protected]. Now I feel like I should have done more and I am so sorry.
Howdy, Stranger!
