I will not be satisfied unless they have a mechanical bull. -

I know, I know. The last I'd heard was supposed to be January, but obviously that ain't happnin'.
I have a friend. I shall ask. -
Moonshine with a mechanical bull would be my dream come through!

Just walked by Cornelius... it's open! Looks cute, but I just had a bad burger at Plan B, so I went home.

Stopped into Cornelius tonight and I definitely like it. They did a great job with the interior, and they have a great booze selection. Billy the bartender was really friendly and knowledgeable about their stuff. They also have a nice assortment of food, including fried pickles, a charcuterie plate featuring lard bread from Caputo's, and a cheese plate featuring cheese from Stinky Brooklyn. The kitchen is open until 2am 7 days a week (competition for Barrette for late night eats on Vandy). I would definitely get the oyster shooters again. All in all, a nice addition to the bar scene on Vanderbilt.
A Vanderbilt pub crawl needs to happen soon! -

I'm all for that! -
Just riding my elevator at work and they had an ad promoting this place on the Captivate screen. So funny.
-
I'm in for a Vandy pub crawl as well.

I stopped by Cornelius tonight and loved it. Finally, a pub-style atmosphere with tasty food and attentive service within walking distance of my home! The burger was excellent, very juicy and served with crispy fries. Decent beer selection, too. All in all, a great alternative to Barrette or Beast, albeit with much better food.

I went there last Saturday and it was fine. I didn't eat though but it looks like they have good food.
Two things, they only have a few and expensive beers...I wish they had more since they are going to charge $4 and up...
Overall my experience was fine. I just wish it would have been warmer in there...I was cold the whole time. -
I can't believe you said you were cold in Cornelius. When my friend and I went last night the heat was really blasting. We were actually too warm. Anyway, the food is amazing -- great burger cooked perfectly with nice fries and homemade pickles. Also, great pulled pork sliders. The beer selection is more high end but they also have Pork Slap and Sly Fox Pilsner and Lager for $4. Was really pleased to see Aventinus on tap for only $7 and the bartender was very friendly. All in all a good new place.

what other taps they got?

Not sure what you're expecting -- always pretty happy if I can find a decent beer for $4 at a bar (paid a ridic $6 for pork slap at freemans last week, though it can be had for $3 at smoke joint). -
Went there tonight. Our waitress was very personable and she helped me pick a nice red. Its relieving to see a place in the nabe which has a good wine selection. I will def be going back, its a nice change from my usual spots but the only con is that it can be a little steep on the wallet.

Went there last night. Had the grilled romaine hearts with olives, parm cheese and croutons (ie- cesear salad). It was really good- the lettuce was whole and lightly grilled (who'da thunk?). It was a little difficult to eat, but worth it. Bf had the lamb, which he liked a lot- portion looked small to me. I had the chicken breast, which was more like a cutlet, over green been cassarole (you know, the one mom makes at Christmastime- with the fried onions on top). Yummy.
The pear cocktail was awesome. -
I might stop by there on the way home from work. I'm curious about their bourbon selection. I'm hoping for a decent selection. Then again, for the future of my engagement, maybe a decent selection of bourbons isn't such a good thing.

They have a great bourbon selection. -
Does it make sense to go there for dinner, or are the food portions more like snacks?
-
Went again the other night and tried the mac and cheese, which was awesome. Axel, the portions are meal-sized and can easily fill you up. Give it a whirl! The second time I went it was pretty crowded, especially for a bar that's been open for a week or so. Service was great, too.

TAPS! TAPS! What taps? If Franklin Park owner is involved, must be decent.
-
I'm actually here now. 28 different bourbons. Looks like a winner.
-
...taps?
-
Sorry, OTB. I'm home now and didn't check for you. Next time I go I'll make it a point to write them down. It did look like they had just a few taps, but then had some bottled beers.
-
Grazie.
Noo Na used to have White Owl on tap --- what a treat. I'm sure that's gone now. -
Just came back from Cornelius. Had a potato croquette appetizer, a cheeseburger with fries, a German wheat beer, and a nice scotch. Everything was excellent. I also really dig the setup and atmosphere; other than the little kid running around the place and shouting while his dad just stared at him, I liked everything about it. (Really not trying to start the whole "kids in bars" debate again, just reporting my dinner in full.)
-
excellent burger! the fries look like they ran out and had to walk over to mcdonalds.
-
Tried Cornelius for the first time Friday night. Seems like it will be a nice addition to the neighborhood. 2 burgers and 2 beers was 40 dollars.. the burger itself is 10 bucks with fries, compared to 15 dollars for the same thing at James. Only complaint was the unannounced mustard sauce on the bun, and also the tables within proximity of the door get blasted with cold air everytime somebody comes in or out.
-
Was there tonight. I really enjoyed the decor of this spot, and the place was pretty busy. Tried the pork sliders (awesome!) and the service was really good. They seemed to have some cool beers on draft, but decided to get a cocktail instead. I agree w/Doug for I was sitting at one of the tables and it got really cold when the door kept opening, but I will be back again for sure.
-
I really need to go and try the food. I would love to have a great burger place close to home.
I agree with everyone who said they were cold...I was too!!! -
Went again tonight - they've changed the fries so that they no longer resemble McDonald's. Burger was spectacular.
And, of course, the top-heavy female waitstaff doesn't hurt matters, either... [insert feminist criticism here]
