Reaching Breaking Point Over the Park Slope PC Police

There seems to be two kinds of people on this message board. People who like dogs and those who do not.
Some people see a dog as a pet, a companion, a friend. I do not. I see a potential pile of poop or a stream of urine. I can live with that. I am happy to be living in a diverse urban environment. People have different values, and priorities (there are even some Republicans in the neighborhood :salut: )
I am just trying to make the point that for many an unrestrained dog is just a potential problem. I do not go near the parts of the park that have off leash rules; they are not for me. I have seen many dog owners chasing their dogs all over the park. I have seen many dogs even running into traffic.
A good dog, just wanting to play can knock me down. I can not tell when a dog wants to play. Any dog approaching me or my children give me stress. Most dog owners realize that there are some people that do not want to have anything to do with their dog.
Just as I have taught my ask a dog owner if it is OK to pet their dog, most dog owners do not assume I want to have their dog jump on me. The exception seams to be the anonymous posters on this board. -

Did you just write this earlier??
Also, Park Slope is still in New York City. Not everyone is like me, some people are crazy and might react very differently. All I'm saying is be careful about who you mouth off to, especially in a park after dark. This is common sense when living in a big city.
"If someone gave me crap about them being off their leashes I would have told them to go f*ck themselves and to go find a hobby. "
I'm pretty sure that telling someone to go f*ck themselves is a hell of a lot different from giving them a beatdown. I know using the f word can hurt someone's feelings but it's not really as painful as a black eye.
huh ? i thought he was pointing out that in one sentence you say that people should be careful who they mouth of to, and in the next sentence
think it better to tell some one go fck themselves and get a hobby then to roll your eyes and walk away, which sure sounds like self contradiction.
i wonder if i will bump into mallory today.
See, the difference is that I *know* who and who not to mouth off to. I haven't led a sheltered life and am fully capable of handling myself. A very useful thing I picked up as a teenager hanging out in places (and with people) your average Park Sloper wouldn't be caught dead near. No offense to most Park Slopers but a lot of Brooklyn neighborhoods were pretty messed up in the eighties. I won't even mention the places I had to go as a family worker in special ed. -
And Caseo, you did say "10 years ago" - not that any of these people have reading comprehension skills or anything.

You're 100% right. I have dogs and I have kids and I am more accepting of people who don't like kids than I am of people who don't like dogs. If you don't like dogs there is something wrong with you. I guess it's a deep prejudice. Nothing personal. I wouldn't trust you with my kids if you didn't love my dogs. Good luck on that marathon, (Boston?) -

I could never qualify for Boston. I am thinking of The New Jersey Marathon in Long Branch. -

Many years ago I would run the 6 mile loop in Central Park on the worst day of Winter. It is the most satisfying thing in the world to be the only one out there. You don't like dogs huh? Well training for a Marathon makes up for a lot, I guess. I hope you joined a club , it's the only way not to drive yourself crazy. -

Actually if you look carefully youll notice a significant % of the bitching in from people who dont even live here.
Why someone wants to bitch on and on about a neighborhood they dont live in is beyond me.
Id wager its redirected self loathing but im no expert. -

You're obviously not an expert. I live one neighborhood away. I shop, eat, drink and hang out in Park Slope. So guess what? It effects me, too. The title of the message board is BROOKLYNIAN.COM. So you can take your neighborhood bigotry and shove it.

winstonsmith wrote: [quote=eggcream][quote=winstonsmith][quote=Anastasia Beaverhausen]yes, because 60 year old married men NEVER stray - or try to pick up on women. How silly of me. In any event, if my dog was on his leash and some retard came running up close enough to him that he felt threatened and jumped THEN said asswhip runner hit my dog, I'd have buried his fucking ass somewhere in the park. The owner of the dog did nothing wrong. She had her dog on a leash and was respecting the law. Unfortunately, your "buddy" broke the law by a) damaging her property (because we all know dogs are property) and b ) assaulted the owner by knocking her down.
You don't know my friend, I do. He was not trying to make any new friends. The dog did not jump him because it felt threatened. It wanted to play. and it was on one of those long leashes.
She had no control over her pet.
Your buddy is an asshole if all the dog wanted to do was play. I could see if the dog was going to attack him.
How do you know what a dog is gonna do when it jumps on your chest
Read you own words as pointed out by Anastasia. I think asshole is putting it mildly as I reread your post. He must be proud hitting defenseless animals and knocking women over. Let's hope karma bites this prick in the ass big time. -
Eggcream,
Is your dog named karma? -
C'mon, Beave! You know you're really just jealous that you don't live in Park Slope. Why don't you just admit it and stop redirecting your self loathing?

I am sorry you did not get my joke. I think it is funny that you want my friend to get hurt because he pushed a dog off of himself. -
its amazing how people think their shit doesnt stink.
most people that get in these "confrontations " have the same chip on their shoulder as the so called "asshole" they bitch about. -
Obamanut is libertarian. Very obvious.

Um, I got it, see my post, but I don't think it's funny to crack jokes when a woman was knocked over by an asshole.
Pushed? Or slapped so hard that the poor dog fell over and knocked it's owner over too which you conveniently left out above. There is a difference.
But what the hell, punch a dog, cause a woman to fall over, just as long as your "civil liberties" aren't infringed upon, eh? -
eggcream wrote:
eggcream, I think one of 2 things happened here. Neither of which is flattering to the 60 year old buddy. It was premeditated. 60 year old runner comes upon somebody walking their dog in the running lane and prepares to teach that person a lesson about sharing or like many older male runners, middle age and up he lied about his prowess. Probably a little bit of both.

neighborhood bigotry ?

worry about your own fucking backyard before you bitch about mine. -
Garfunky wrote: neighborhood bigotry ?
Guess what? You don't OWN the neighborhood! I know, shocking. I'll take my dog where and when I damn well choose. Deal with it. If he pisses on the tree in front of your house, oh well. Believe me, there's nothing to worry about in "my backyard." No one in my neighborhood bitches and whines like you people do. You've cornered the market on that one.

Hey, It is not about civil liberties, it is about self defense. I would push, slap, kick, mace (if I had it) or do anything I could to keep a dog off om me. How can I have any idea what a dog's motivations could be for jumping on me.
Anyway Eggcream, you should be happy. My 8 year old son put his glove into some poop left by an irresponsible dog owner while sledding in Prospect Park today. Don't worry, he still had a great day. -

It's now officially gone on for more than a week, and it's gone from relatively amusing to collective OCD. Not to be too harsh, but you all are starting to sound like a canine-debate-style versions of the shut-ins who call into WFAN.
Thanks for the entertainment! =D>
There are a lot more important things happening in the world to be worried about, folks... -
OCD
Is that obsessive canine disorder?
