  • what's the skill-level and gender breakdown? i would love to play, and, weather-permitting, can do sunday. haven't played since high-school, tho, 20 years ago. but what i lack in skill i compensate in enthusiasm and athleticism!
  • withachaser wrote: what's the skill-level and gender breakdown?
Skill level is as long as you can be a happy player, then you are welcome. There were people there who have never played before in their lives and there may be one or two folks who used to play on leagues (always good to put those people on opposite teams  )

The gender breakdown is that all genders are welcome. We just jumped to whichever side of the field and that determined whose team we were on. There was no gender division happening last weekend that I was aware of.

    See you Sunday (weather permitting)
  • The forecast for Sunday is rain starting around 3. Boo!
  • Oh Dang!
Well I will keep my fingers crossed. today all I was doing was daydreaming about soccer but I had family in town and that plan had been made a while ago.
    Boo is right!
Stay posted for tomorrow, we will see how it goes!
  • The umbrellas and windshield wipers are out -- I'm going to bail.

    Next time!

I'll bring my pump, also, in case anyone needs to air up.
  • Looks like rain again today. Were you planning on playing, Sandra Dee?
  • Hey Qtrain,
I keep waiting for that sunshine! I would have played last week but I had family visiting and it had been previously arranged.
Lets keep in touch about it, who knows, maybe tomorrow or next weekend will be nicer out!
    Thanks for checking in :0)
  • Subject: Sunday

My roommate and I are game if it is Sunday afternoons. We both work all week and go to school on Saturdays. I am also thinking that anything till March would be wasted on us since we are not into being freezing. If this is a go, I am sure we will be in, date permitting.
  • Does anyone want to plan on getting a game together in a few weeks, say the 2nd or 3rd weekend in March? We will have to watch the weather of course for that weekend but my roommate and I are in as long as it is a Sunday.
  • I love how the whole city gets in Spring mode, tensed up and ready to revel as soon as the weather breaks for good. If I made documentaries, my first subject would be the annual return of the humans to Prospect Park, when all green grass is covered by upright mammals of all sizes...
  • Even though I have not played soccer in many years, I think I could still control the the ball with both feet. Is there going to be a match? I'd be interested.

I can't make it the 2nd weekend, but I'm itching to play again.

So far, people that expressed general interest:

  • We are in for the 3rd Sunday, March 19th. Neither of us have a ball or cleats or shin guards. How serious is this going to get?

I have a ball, but no cleats/guards. Most of the people that came out to play last time hadn't played since childhood, so it wasn't too serious. I think some people came out with a bruise or two (see jayce's post).

I prefer early afternoon.. just enough time for brunch to settle. 2ish.
  • YAY! This is so great! I am totally back in and I am sure some of the non-DHer's will be interested too. I as well have a soccer ball if we need another one. It has been sad sitting around with no one kicking it.
So count me in for sure.
    You da man q-train!

  • jayce wrote: wait, is this for March 19th? is the planning going on this many weeks in advance?
Yeah. The wind chill is 13F today; I'm hoping that if we wait a few days, it'll be 70 again.
  • Soccer is my new religion. I'm playing indoor soccer at the Y on Atlantic, and I'm obsessed.
Can't make the 19th, but count me in for any time after that.
  • Oh man, I am SO ready to play some footie.

Especially if I get to kick any of the following in the ankles:

    1. carnivore
    [/list]

Today would have been perfect, BTW. Except most'a yinz schmos work on friday afternoons.

I don't, but I could only get up and down the field about 7 times before internal organs started to fail. How 'bout Ping Pong?! Heh! Actually, can't today, but normally...
  • Yeah... when is the next brownstone excursion?
  • pensodyssey wrote: Yeah... when is the next brownstone excursion?
Last time, all but two others and myself wussed out... Carnivore's friend broke her elbow... :?
