I hopped around in Fort Greene and Park Slope before I landed in a three bedroom coop I could afford to buy. Admittedly, I looked at places in PH over the years, but this was never my #1 choice until I fell in love with my apt./bldg.

Whay are we all here?

    I spent all summer walking around Brooklyn looking at nabes and PH was the way to go. I didn't like the vibe anywhere else--PH seemed to have the right mix of good housing stock, real working people, diversity (I know I know), subway access, and a low hipster-to-real-people ratio. But I'll probably get priced out kind of soon, so I'll be down the street, missing it instead of living in it.

    I moved in with my girlfriend.

    We loved the cheap rent in the studio. We found a 2br rental with a big beautiful garden and bought a grill. We got a dog, we got married, we stayed.

    *SHE* moved here cause, well, Hoboken sucks.

    moved here in 99 looking for the spectacular brownstone that i cdnt afford on the other side of Flatbush -- preferred prime PH to much of the south & central slope b/c of the combo of transportation, park, library, museum and proximity to heart of 7th/5th Av better than much of the Slope. happy that Vanderbilt & Flatbush have come so far in 7 yrs as well. . .

    I don't live in PH, but I live close enough to be impacted by the AY project and Freddy's is one of the best bars in the city. I find some of the debates maddening, but its mostly good fun.

    I moved to NYC in 2003.
    Live in Ft green for 1 1/2 years and then immediatle began looking for a Place to buy.

    My wife and I found a great place to buy in PH and think we will be Brooklynites for the Long haul. The Museum and the Park were the deal closers.

    I like Ft green and even like Ft Greene park, but there is just no comparison. besides, we couldn't afford anything over there and we HATED the A/C train line. I preferred the G to Hoyt over the damned C train!!!

    Anyway, Prospect Hts "looked like us": mixed, ecclectic, other. So we knew it was for us. No Kids yet but when we do we want them to be Brooklyn Kids! :wink:

    I voted earlier for "I moved here out of choice, and I own."

    I moved from London to Prospect Heights late 70's and immediately fell in love with the area. I bought a co-op in the 80's and thereafter bought several brownstones, I still own a few of them.
