  • Ah, that is the one I was thinking of. What maria's is on 5th and Bergen?
  • El Vejo Yayo? (sp?)
  • Bagels for dogs!

    Mexican food for dogs!

    Tuxedo rental for dogs!
  • i'll have to look next time i walk by.

maybe i have the name incorrect. or maybe it closed.

it's on the northwest corner of 5th and bergen, i think...
  • Mpmav1 wrote: [quote=soundfreak] We need: burger and shakes and fries place where the burgers don't cost $10.
"5 Guys" on 7th and, ahhhh, like 7th.

    No shakes, however.

7th and 7th, thats 2 avenues then another 15 blocks from the area we're talking about. By the time I got home, my fries would be frozen. yuck.

The place at 5th and Bergen is called Marine's Coffee Shop.
  • So this guy just spins a wheel and opens a business? Can't say that sounds like a business that's gonna succeed.
  • Subject: Re: an idea for a new business in the north slope

    fresh fish shop

I think it's called Marina's Coffee Shop. A sign in the window says they have Hot Spanish Food.
  • To the OP, regardless of what the community wants, wouldn't you need some sort of unique ability/skill in order to be able to provide a specific service?
  • Deli with prepared hot and cold "salad" bar.

Movie theater with sufficient heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer.

    Bookstore with cafe or bar.

    Karaoke bar.

    Cheap and fresh produce market.

    Trader Joe's.

    Shoe repair.
  • a robot station where robot parents

    might deposit their robot children

or is that the tea lounge?
  • A mongolian grill type place. Take out. You pick the mix, sauce flavor, and spice level, they quickly grill it up for a healthy meal. Yum.

    Apple Store

Taco Bell/Popeyes that stays open late Don't judge me :)

    No to:
    nail salons
    cell phone stores
    eyewear store
  • ooooo i would love a mongolian grill. Those places are awesome and usually very healthy. I would also not mind a cheapie hibachi place (unless there is one around here that i don't know about?) Not a fancy expensive one, but more on-point with the thai places in the hood except with habachi steak/chicken/rice.
  • I vote Carnivore's response for the best response here.
    Second place: Old Time Brooklyn
    Third place: BrookFetish
  • a restaurant like shabu tatsu (sp?) in manhattan, where they chop-up the ingredients for your meal, and you cook it at your table.
  • A pet store that sells live food

An old school bakery that sells real cakes and breads

    A salad place

A place with a fresh hot and cold serve yourself buffet/salad bar
  • We need a Hooters.
  • image
    there's this
    image
    and this
    image
    or how about this
    image
    my favorite!
  • I love that they trademarked the Steakburger concept and that every shake gets a hand dipped into it before serving too. Genuises. Thanks for the link Mod.
  • Oh man, I've got it! Pure genius! We need an Original Pancake House. I'd eat there all the time. :)
  • Waffle House. This neighborhood needs a 24-hour Waffle House. This STATE needs a Waffle House, and I say North Slope is the place for it.

Or, a DIY salad place. Both would be ideal. If we had both, you could eat salad once daily and then feel virtuous and the eat at the Waffle House once daily and then feel guilty so go back to the salad place and feel virtuous, and on and on to infinity.

Or, there's this amazing restaurant in White Plains called City Limits. It's perfect. Get the chef to open one here.
  • Want:
a place with indoor soccer fields :)

a coffee shop with wifi that serves burgers and fries and other bar apps (tea lounge is always so damned crowded).

    a mac store or tekserve

    a trader joe's wine shop

    a beer garden

    Don't Want:
    Bank
    Real Estate Office
a store for baby/small child type things

    THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • OH!

And a 5 guys that delivers OR an In N Out that delivers. Although if you could get an In N Out on the East Coast in general, but specifically the neighborhood I live in, I wouldn't complain at all if they didn't deliver.
  • In a nutshell, Entrepeneur, I think what we're saying is that we want something shiny, perhaps neon, possibly a franchise, certainly we want hands dipped in any foods that are served, toppings we can choose whether for salads or waffles or for our dogs, and don't forget the most important detail that nobody has let you in on yet --we like drive thrus. Best of luck.
  • Would love to see:
    -Salad place, yes!
-Apple product store (not necessarily an official apple store)
    -Skincare product/Makeup store
-Chipotle (okay, maybe thats just me)
-Something awesome and also 24 hours

Things I could do less of:
    No more kids clothes/toys/etc.
    No more sweaters for dogs
No more sushi - I have enough choices.
No more brooklyn industries, two in the slope already! ick.
