What to do with an old couch?
My lady-friend and I have been saving (and negotiating) for months and have finally purchased a new couch.
The question is, "what do we do with our old couch?" It's a nice one and we're fairly clean people but who really wants a six year-old couch? Pretty much no one, eh? I know leaving it out on the street is not only hideous but any sort of wet weather will immediately ruin any chance of adoption.
Any ideas? 311? Will Goodwill pick up? Anyone want a nice couch? I'll personally vacuum and Febreeze it.
Tyrone.

Put it on Craigslist. I can almost guarantee, if it's not horribly ugly or filthy, someone will come pick it up. It's your best bet at this time of year.

I recently put my used Ikea sofa on brooklyn freecycle.com and was able to give it to someone the same day I posted.

freecycle.com use it all the time, got blender, gave out tons of stuff that was collecting dust but others liked/needed it

Thanks for the freecycle reminder! I've got crap to get rid of!

Donate it to charity. Furnish-A-Future will do pick up (with a small fee) if the donation includes at least a couch or a dresser.

I have had so many good results with Craig's List and Freecycle. It feels good too to give somebody something for free.

Ditto on using "Furnish a Future" as we just used them to get rid of some old dining room & bedroom furniture. They charge you $30 but they came & picked the stuff up when they said they would. I guess you can deduct it as a donation on you income taxes. They also take working TVs but no beds.

I also bought a new couch recently too and I used craigslist.com to sell my old one. It went very smoothly.
