I chose the first. I can't swear I'll feel the same way twenty years from now, but I'm not planning on leaving at this stage in the game.

Subject: Right place at the Right Time
I say this as a completely biased new owner but:
I think this is the last great deal in NYC.
We got a great palce under market rate recenlty and I have to say - after looking steadily for over 1 year, PH was the best choice for so many reasons beside our building.
Forget Harlem, Tribeca, BoCoCa or even Redhook (ick!).
Prospect Heights offers the most bang for the buck: express subway, BK museum, propsect Park, BK Library ( a true GEM), Botanic Garden, Grand Army PLaza, The Saturday Market and Eastern Parkway and 3 other avenues that have great potential: Flatbush, Vandy and Washington. We just need a few more things to make it what it really can be.
I really think Prosepct Heights is the True Cultural Center of Brooklyn - the knuckle bone of the community. 8) Seriously, it aint Brooklyn Heights or Bensonhurst with that distinction, people. Get real. And I dont just mean its good for the Yuppies either, I love the diversity of people in this neighborhood specifically.
It is a beautiful thing on first Saturdays in Spring and Summer. It is only going to get better from here on out.

I picked the first, but I wish it were worded a little differently.

I love the neighborhood and I hope we can stay, but it sort of depends on the schools -- and what I hear of PS 316 ain't encouraging. And we rent and SO cannot afford to buy, alas.

i don't want to get priced out of here!!!! wish i could buy, but even the places i cannot afford are not enough space...

So what's the next neighborhood that will be affordable and maybe somewhat cool? Crown Heights?

better hurry, crown heights is getting more $cool$ everyday! depends on the block... walk around & check it out, every avenue away from flatbush going east drops a few hundred $$$ in rent, or so it seems... 8) -
