Racist baker sells drunken negro head cookies in

I can't even believe this. In the Village too. Damn.
This is the Lafayette French Pastry shop at 26 Greenwich Ave.
Make a point to never go there.

No need to apologize. Not everyone reads those megathreads. And you're the first to post the video.

I was just trying to link it to the other comments without merging your post into that morass.

you can watch it here but I don't know how to embed it

  • Wow. I'll admit at first glance I thought both the cookies and the chia pet were hoaxes and I'm half-expecting my computer will explode any second. Then I read some of the posts on Gothamist and now my head feels like it's gonna explode. I'd like to think that we'll be reading about this pastry shop going under real soon. One can certainly hope so.

I certainly hope so. Perhaps this is one instance where whoever still patronizes this shop deserves rocks or eggs or whatever thrown at them.
  • And so we meet again. Christo-I don't think people by and large get what they deserve, but that is perhaps too philosophical an answer to your question. I think that any kind of egging or rockthrowing against customers of this bakery would be misguided and unlawful.
  • Subject: Question

I cannot view the video or the other link. Are they selling both white faces and black faces in cookie form (basically a change in the batter color to reflect different skin tone) or are they really selling "drunken negro head" cookies as the OP quoted? The former would not be racist but the latter, definitely so.
  • After viewing the owner on the video' I feel the guy is not a racist, he's a moron.
I can't wait to see what he has for St. Patrick's Day.

Racists can also be morons (there's probably a high correlation).
  • Unfortunately, at least in the short run, all this attention will probably lead to more people going to his shop.
  • maybe we should show this to the person who thinks black people are racist against white people.
  • Subject: Anyone can be racist to anyone else

Sorry to be logical, but anyone is capable of being racist to anyone else of a different race.

That may be true, but (sadly) for every Farrakhan, there are a thousand people like the owner of this pastry shop.
  • Yes, but what was katherine08's point in wanting to forward this to the other poster who "thinks black people are racist against white people" ("thinks" is an interesting word choice; she could have used, "said" or "wrote" - would she use "thinks" to describe a poster who was black talking about how he "thinks" he saw white people being racist to blacks? like it was all in the black poster's head?)?

The other poster said he saw blacks being racist to whites. We weren't with him and have no evidence to prove he is correct or incorrect in his assertion. Because a white person (the baker) is racist to blacks doesn't disprove what this other posters says he saw so I'm not sure I understand the point in forwarding this incident info to him.
  • He received many death threats

    Eww , I hope not.

I watched the video and I'm seriously disgusted by him.

    Stupid little bitch.
  • I am on my way to get some at once! I bet they are the best cookies in the world.
  • "Ashley" has been outed as a troll by a mod. See "Why?" post string.
  • Heh, yeah...hard to miss. That's what I was getting at when I posted this yesterday.
  • I'm starting to feel like I should get a virtual restraining order on this psycho.

MYFOXNY.COM - Arnold Diaz's report about a pastry shop in Greenwich Village selling what the owner called "Drunken Negro Face" cookies generated strong reactions. Hundreds of people commented on Arnold's blog. Dozens more called the store owner to express their outrage. At first, Ted Kefalinos said he didn't see anything offensive about the cookies or their name (he said they were "in honor" or the inauguration of President Barack Obama), but now he says he feels terribly. He apologizes to his customers and the community. Watch the full update from Christina Park.

  • Yeah, sounds really sincere.

I bet he's been losing a ton of business.

How sad and pathetic that this person has no life or friends and must make up multiple log in names to get attention.
  • Are the Village feminist going to demand a female version.
  • R there still feminists living in the Village?
