Why?
Why are there no decent goods or services in this neighborhood? No cheese or bread or olives. No delivery. No organic produce. No health food store.
Why must I buy my liquor through a bulletproof window? Why does the liquor store only sell the bottom of the barrel? Why do they keep the wine standing up? Why can't I look at my wine label before I buy it?
Why are the streets so filthy?
Why are they so loud?
Why are the only clothes available ghetto clothes?
Why can't I buy decent hair and skin products without going downtown?
How do people live like this?

Why didn't you know this before you moved there?
What is the point of a topic like this? -

I just wonder why there is such a low quality of life here and how people can find it acceptable.

I'm not sure where you live, but I don't have any of those "quality of life" complaints where I'm at. And that you do shows you didn't do much looking around before you arrived. -

I really didn't have the opportunity to do so. I really hate it here though. I can't wait to move to Manhattan or Park Slope or Brooklyn Heights. Somewhere civilized. How can you live in the third world in NYC? Crazy.

The people that have lived here all their lives have been asking the same questions and have not gotten a decent respectable answer, other than deal with it.
So, I pass that answer along.
Yes, they have tried to improve, and change, but the "man" wasn't having it. -
Why do you give me a hard time for saying animals but not Anastasia? You applauded her for saying it.

Anastasia appears to be using irony. You appear to be serious.
MOD NOTE: ashley is posting from the same IP as cafeaulait, who some of you may remember from previous trolly turns on this board. -

Am I the only one who sees the similarity between this post and the Son of Sam's writings to Jimmy Breslin? Where is Jimmy Breslin when we need him? Ashley's next nom de plume should be Davey Berkowitz or maybe just crazy?
"Hello from the gutters of N.Y.C., which are filled with dog manure, vomit, stale wine, urine, and blood. Hello from the sewers of N.Y.C. which swallow up the delicacies when they are washed away by the sweeper trucks. Hello from the cracks in the sidewalks of N.Y.C. and from the ants that dwell in these cracks and feed on the dried blood of the dead that has seeped into these cracks."

I told her I wasn't into chicks. Apparently, he/she/it doesn't take no for an answer.

Give it up and just go away.
Nobody is falling for your flaming again. -
WHY?...and where they heck do y'all live? Mars? I love it here in BS/CH/FG. Wine (laid down), olives, bread, cheese. Lovely heath food stores, bakeries, restaurants, pharmacies and hardware (both family & chain). Clothes, furniture, music, and baby stuff abound.
From the ridiculous height of the menus on my table, most everything delivers. (Still working on Kum Kau!)
Where are you looking for this, Admiral’s row?
What disturbs me, is that no one sees how full of crap the assertion that none of this is actually here.
I am only in CH/BS two years, but I never leave the three neighborhood area now outside of work. I moved from a “safe, sanitary, & soulless” Manhattan nabe to _quiet_ Bed Sty/Clinton Hill.
For better or worse, the Fulton BID will clean up some of the nastier bits of the area. If this is still too loud and dirty, you need to move to Upper Saddle River, Ash. -
Ashley doesn't exist so there is no point in engaging.
