Can anyone recommend a good dermatologist??

Hey could anyone recommend a good dermatologist in Brooklyn or anywhere in NYC? It is nothing to do with acne or botox, i just need to get a few moles checked out and i don't want to be paying some plastic surgeon who probably doesn't care about moles.
So if anyone knows or recommends one i would be so appreciative.

    I used Dr. Frankel when I wanted to get a mole checked out. He was straight forward, explained what to look for and accepted my insurance. 263 7th Ave. over b&n, 718-369-3553, good luck.

    I go to Frankel and like him a lot.

    Stay away from Dr. Zaleya....he is great if you want costemic stuff.. think Botox. I saw him afew years ago and he sent me on a wild goose chase to other specialists. He thought it was a serious problem. After many tests and nonesense it turned out to be something that was "fixable" and so obvious that a first year intern in dermatology probably would have diagnosed correctly.

    Dr. Frankel is the man!!

    I disagree - I've been to Zelaya twice, he is good. He even recognized me two years later when I was walking down 7th Ave. and he passed me.

    I third Dr. Frankel! As far as Dr. Zelaya...I saw him many years ago because of something on my toe...he removed it but couldn't identify it. It came back a few years later and I saw Dr. Frankel...he immediately identified it and sent me to a podiatrist. Now, the podiatrist said it could come back again (it was a fibroma); but Zelaya had no idea what it was.

    hey, peanuts...the problem that Zelaya did not diagnose properly had to do with my feet! I finally linked up with a great podiatrist but Zelaya turfed me out to a rheumotologist and then that guy to a vascular doc and it was the vascular doc that saw immediately it was a podiatric issue.. and not serious at all.

    Perhaps Zelaya is just not a foot guy!

    Funny Veets...actually Frankel said to me "I don't do feet" but he knew exactly what it was. Frankel also did remove what turned out to be a mole off of my chin...but he examined my face carefully...Zelaya never looked at my skim

    All these feet....I guess I'm just wondering why Zelaya had no idea that what I had was a fibroma...this was even after the biopsy...just said it was fine. From what I understand from other people in the medical field...fibromas are not difficult to identify (again, it had to be confirmed by a biopsy but Zelaya had no idea what it was)

    Zelaya gets no points on this one! I am a musician and I can diagnose atheles foot!

    And peanut... Fibromas are very common.. that misdiagnosis is hard to understand.

    Zelaya missed skin cancer on a friend of mine and Frankel misdiagnosed a lesion on another friend of mine.

    My vote is for Mark Tessler.

    eggcream..perhaps this points to Dermatology being more intricate a specialty than I supposed... or Dr. TESSER is the guy to see.

    Now I seem to be obsessing about dermatology but I just had the recall that even Dr Frankel (who I still recommend) has said things like.."could biopsy this blah blah but let's wait 10 days and come in and we will look again." I am thinking that dermatologists love to biopsy and who knows (I did not go to medical school) many times this is necessary but for goodness sakes, after the biopsy if the guy can't pinpoint diagnosis then what is going on?

    As far as Fibromas... I am pretty sure that this dx is simply clinical ( observation-based)and needs no test to ID but any doctor that did not confirm after the biopsy, which eliminates many other worse possibilities, would be off my short list.

    In fairness, if the biopsy is not leading to the diagnosis, it could be more the pathologist's fault than the dermatologist's. Maybe Dr. Frankel has to start working with a better pathologist.

    It wasn't Dr. Frankel who didn't know what it was...it was Dr. Zelaya....and as others have said, fibromas are not difficult to identify (although everything shoould be confirmed by a biopsy. Dr. Frankel knew exactly what I had
