Where are they now
I checked out this board weeks before I signed up. Back then there were some bloggers who made interested postings but no longer are posting here. Did they moved from the area, or are they still here under different user name. Bloggers such as
T-Fal
Crustythor
Bluedove
Oiseau
nybt
dgoldstein, and
Boaty who burst on the seen and wanted to know “what a man has to do to earn G.M.â€ÂÂ
And of course Armchair-Warrior who reached G.M in 7 days and thought it was too easy to earn G.M
While I am at it, it would be nice if Nalani would give us an update on Nalani's lounge on Vanderbilt that have closed since last Novermber. Is it coming back?

Bluedove and Oiseau have moved. Nybt is still a frequent poster, and crustythor has also posted recently, I believe. Dgoldstein is pretty much a one-issue poster (actually, I'm surprised he hasn't weighed in on the 2 escap/Jack Krohn vs. everyone threads about the Meier building, but maybe they've been below the radar because they're not directly about the AY project). I don't know what happened to T-Fal, and I think Boaty lost interest once she made GM.

Sorry, I'm doing charity work with a pit bull; she keeps me busy...

I've always wondered what happened to vehement Jack.

He "retired" after our last argument, although he's been back once or twice since. I'd bet he's been lurking. -
Spot-on read of Boaty, methinks. Boaty, are you out there? Joyful people like you are a rare find...

And whatever happened to that JamesonVandy character, anyway? :P

I think we banned that knob.

well, some of us occasionally get pulled back in, but you really don't have to read this board anymore to know what the posts are going to be like...i mean really, how many arguments about race, gentrification and crappy coffee can one person stand?

Wow,
I really like this board and found / find it really helpful, but,,, you kinda nailed it. I think the " G " word is over, over, over, over used here, and on the CH board. -

I mean really, how many top 5 laundromats in the neighborhood topics can a person stand? Nature of the beast, dude. I think it's nice to pretend we don't live in a yuppie vacuum occasionally. -
I think boaty was beaten to death by the Muddy Waters Lady. What's up with her anyway, I thought Muddy Waters lost their lease, but I've seen it open?

it's my understanding that that lady owns the building. -

She doesn't own the building. But, my hairdresser told me that her rent is dirt cheap---like $600 per month. So, its not hard for her to break even. She can have 0 customers and still stay in business. -

Like I said, I haven't had any problem with her, but if she's such a terrible tenant and her lease was up last summer, why didn't the landlord raise the rent to the current market rate for Vanderbilt? There's no way that place could break even with that kind of rent. -

I'm not quite sure her lease was up last summer. She, like a few of the other tenants on Vanderbilt, had long term leases. Also, doesn't she share the same bldg. as Pieces? The Pieces building is a co-op...That means it would be impossible for her to own the building. For a while, the people at Pieces were thinking of buying her out of her leases and expanding their store. In the end, she changed her mind and decided to stay in business. -

that's definitely not true. my co-op building is owned by a condo association which is owned by a corporation that purchases and develops real estate. all of the corporations are owned by the same two guys, and they still own half of the shares in the co-op association. the stores in my building are owned by the condo group and don't make money for the co-op. the whole thing is pretty complicated, but the point is that an investor can retain ownership of different pieces of a building whether or not it goes co-op. -

You're absolutley right. My building, for a while, was also controlled by a group of investors who purchased the apts. for $1000 each in the early 80's...and then sold them at a profit. I guess I assumed that she wasn't a sponsor. A while back, so told me she owned her apt. on Prospect Place. That turned out not to be true---she was renting. Personally, I have nothing against her. She's an odd duck and the coffee in her shop isn't all that great, but I respect her as a business person. While I've had a few bad cups of coffee in her place and one stale bagel too many, she's a great conversationalist on a good day.
