What is the best cell phone to buy for texting?
What is the best cell phone to buy for texting? I need a new cell phone and I need one that is easier to text on than the Sony Ericsson I have. All I do is talk and text on my phone. I occasionally check email but its a pain on the cell I have and don't have the patience to always work with it. I need a phone that makes it easy for me to do these things. Preferably a phone that flips open to a key pad.
Can any cell phone be used with Cingular/ATT or can I only buy phones from them?

I have the LG rumor, it has a slide out QWERTY keyboard, i love it! Oh, I don't have Cingular/ATT though, maybe they have something similiar

i have the samsung alias and I love it. It's the one that flips both horizontally and vertically, which still bugs people out even though its an old phone.
small, qwerty keyboard. i have it on verizon though, not sure if you can get it through ATT -
iPhone has a qwerty, and it's AT&T, and it's only $200 now.

The Razr has a smart key that actually works, unlike the CRAPPY chocolat which sucks for texting.

I love my Blackberry Curve!

I have an old MOTORAZR with the speed of a donkey cart. My kids text books to me before I can punch in "ok" or "y" or "n"

Me and my donkey "RAZR" -
Check out the Pantech Slate. It looks a lot like a Blackberry, but doesn't have "smartphone" features. Just a cell phone with a QWERTY keyboard. ATT has it:

You don't have to buy a phone from them, but you need one that is compatible. ATT uses GSM technology, as does TMobile. Any unlocked GSM phone (easily identified as any phone that uses a SIM card) will work with either carrier. But a locked phone is locked to only a specific carrier.

Most phone retailers, though, sell ATT phones, so you can buy one almost anywhere. Many retailers also sell unlocked phones, though they will typically be more expensive. -

Yep. It's the shit. -
I have an iPhone for personal use and a BB for work. I love the iPhone's features, but if you gave me the same sentence and had me try to type it on either device, I'd be much faster on the BB every time.

I'm a dedicated right hand index finger user and I've developed amazing speed one-digited.
I'm obviously lacking something in the prehensile thumb category though ;-)
