Brooklyn Industries defective Jackets
So I know Brooklyn Industries is a local business that's fun to support and the water tower logo is cool and all, but has anyone else had problems with these clothes being poorly made and their return policy? I bought a coat in December and its already basically useless from what isn't even normal wear and tear. Within a week, the seams were coming loose and the pocket stitching had completely unraveled. So when you forget this for a second and drop your keys in the pocket, they fall all the way to the bottom lining of the jacket. I tried to return it and they of course, wouldn't accept it because it had been worn. Now, two months later, the zipper won't close and most of the threading has come undone. What's the point in supporting local business if its overpriced and under-quality?

I thought they had a lifetime guarantee on their merchandise. or is that just bags? check their website. write a nasty email.

I bought one of their sweatjackets last year and two weeks later the zipper was busted. They wouldn't do anything for me, and I had to have my tailor fix it. I won't ever give them a dime.

My wife had a problem exchanging an unworn t-shirt she got as a gift (with the gift receipt).

i bought a down parka from them in january and so far it's ok
i mean stray feathers poke out here and there every once in a while
like most other middle of the road down jackets
Brooklyn Industries is definitely definitely NOT the best quality
but since i got it for $35{on sale from $118}, i ain't complaining -
compared to what? BI is as good as or better than Banana Republic/Gap anyway
me and the girlfriend have a few of their jackets between us . . . I think the mens outerwear is great. No broke nothing . . .
(buy it on sale for sure) -

What killed me was their "MADE IN BROOKLYN" t-shirts with tags that said "MADE IN CHINA".
I wrote to them asking about this and why they couldn't have a business model like American Apparel (everything's made in Los Angeles with fair wages). They replied that the workers in China are paid fair and the President of the Company himself toured the facilities.
I don't consider Brooklyn Industries a local business and I don't shop there anymore. -

That IS pretty funny, but I think that the shirt is supposed to refer to the wearer of the shirt not the shirt itself. -

In most cases, that's not true either. :P -

Subject: thanks
SO glad I found this forum. I was very tempted to buy some of their sale items this past week --- and now that I've caught wind of their not-so-great design features... it makes sense. The folks who work at these shops are so SNOOTY it's not worth buying badly sewn/designed clothes. -
I work at Brooklyn Industries, and I’m really sorry to hear that some people have experienced issues with our clothing. Outside of our stores, we also have a customer service department in the office which is very responsive. They work with each customer individually to resolve any issues.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact them at [email protected]. They’ll get back to you within 24 hours (a bit longer if it’s over the weekend). -
Subject: BI ain't so bad
I've bought tons of stuff from BI, over the internet and in-store. I have never had a bad experience. But, while we are complaining about PS Snooty Retailers, been to Su Casa lately? You need to be wearing the warmest parka BI makes in order to walk in that place. Cold as ice. -
Subject: bad zippers, bad attitude, bad return policy
I bought a down jacket from Brooklyn Industries (mine was on clearance too, thankfully) and the zipper is el cheapo, no doubt. Flimsy and takes several tries before getting it to zip up. As for return policy, I was told adamently (by a salesgirl with attitude) when I bought the jacket it was nonreturnable. And once when my husband bought a shirt there and a mere 5 minutes later brought it back because I had noticed it had a big dirt mark on it, the salesperson actually gave him a hard time about exchanging it! An exchange, not even a return. Dis the Gap all you want, but the products are better and so are the return policies. If small businesses want to compete, they need to make better stuff and try harder to please, I totally agree with the OP!
