John Jay High School - 1972/73

I typed in John Jay High School and this blog (one of several) popped up.

I am trying to obtain copies of the John Jay yearbooks for the years of 1972 and 1973 for my fiance.

If someone attended during those years (or had friends that attended) - I would pay to have copies made of those yearbooks. I have tried contacting the school (no longer exists) as well as posting to sites such as classmates.com.

I had originally started this search before Christmas thinking it would be the greatest gift - but no luck yet.

I appreciate any help that is provided!

  • There's a 1974 on Ebay.
  • Have you tried the school board archive, or the NY or Brooklyn Public Libraries? Failing that, see if you can check the NY State Library or the Library of Congress catalogues, they may receive copies of all books published in NY or the USA, if you feel like a day trip to Albany or Washington, you could probably photocopy what you need at the Library.
  • I tried the yearbook on eBay and unfortunately it does not appear to be a BROOKLYN John Jay yearbook. Fishkill? I emailed the seller anyway. Thanks so much!

I have also tried the NYC School Board and they do not keep copies of the old yearbooks.

Since a trip to Albany or DC is not a possibility, looks like its back to the blackboard for me!

I will keep trying so if anyone has a lightbulb go off, all suggestions will be considered!
  • try asking here. these people went to holy name, but are around the right age and are mostly still in the area. I'd bet that somebody knows somebody who knows somebody.

Harris Publishing (it might be called Harris Direct now) did an alumni directory for alum of John Jay/Manual Training. The alumni directory sends out mailings every couple years to update their information. Maybe they can give you the emails addy's of some of the classmates of that year you can get in touch with. I know when I went there in the early 80's they had copies of previous yearbooks in the school library. Even though it is not called John Jay the school is still there and maybe you can find someone to check the library or the huge storage room they used to have in the basement.

ETA - I just found one of the old emails back from 2001 and here was the information for Harris:

You might also want to ask at the South Brooklyn site:

    Good luck
