"Fascist: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition"

Nope, still don't see the connection with people who ride bikes. -
supreme_ian, thank you,

Brooksignal, You are a breath of fresh air! Did she have a "share the road" or "one less car" sticker on her bony ass? -
Brook, did this happen on the sidewalk or in the street?
-
-
I think she called me a "connar" sounded French
-
I think fascist is perfectly acceptable in this case.
And the race involved is a "bicycle race" (made myself laugh again!!)
And their leader is that mayor who seems to be loved by all the "new" New Yorkers... Bloomberg!!! -
Street, I had the light! No joke not even tryin to cross with no cars
-
wait... when was amsterdam fascist? and do amsterdamians ride their bikes in a famously crazy way?
I mean, I agree, aggressive bikers are total douche bags. (and any work-out benefits on the rear are canceled out by the spandex its wrapped in.) but amsterdam? where's that come from? -

Well, then maybe the Tour de France jersey was appropriate. Maybe she's just homesick.
At least you're ok. The same can't be said for the guy who got "clipped" by an SUV this morning in Park Slope. -
wtf is going on here.
-
Connard means asshole in french! Ha ha
-
I have the perfect song for this (if you rearrange the lyrics a bit):
Comme un grand connard...
Qu'elle me dit en passant... (!!)
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ca plane pour moi -
Facist (sic).

As a bike rider, I feel compelled to respond.
If you're going to complain about riders, you cannot single them out.
I ride mainly around Manhattan, and I feel other bicyclists are as annoying as others feel here. I don't understand why people have to ride the wrong way, or at least why they have to ride the wrong way on my (the "proper") side. Chinese delivery riders are not the only ones guilty of this.
But cars (not only taxis) suck because they cut you off. They don't use their signals. No one stops at stop signs. They pull moved in their Town Cars that are even illegal in the DR. Etc.
However, my biggest pet peeve is with pedestrians. They don't think. Whenever I get one walking in front of me when I have the right of way (yeah, I know, don't remind me about the law), I yell, "Who wants to get hit by a bike?" One time on Park Ave I had to jam my brakes and avoid hitting someone. I ended up gliding right into the crosswalk, stopping within inches. He cussed me out, and then I pointed to his red walk sign, and then he cussed me out some more. The temerity of the dude - he puts himself AND me in danger, then he can't resolve his mistake an apologize? Fuck that! If you make a mistake, fess up!
I like how they opened up bike lanes, but then they expect everyone to understand how they work - typical NYC bureaucratic BS. You've got pedestrians walking around, not looking, etc. IT'S A BIKE LANE, PEOPLE!
So, in other words, without me proofing this or trying to inject some prose, if you can't see that everyone in NYC sucks, then fuck off - I'm doing my part to share the road, but are you? -

I DON'T HAVE TO SHARE THE ROAD, IT'S MY FUCKING ROAD. GO BACK TO OHIO!

Just thought I'd share the typical response. But I was really going to add that the WORST is the new stretch of green lanes through Times Square. You have to cover that stretch hitting your bell the whole time because lamebrained tourists are just pouring off the sidewalks, and always looking south. They're the scariest almost-accidents, but the most annoying have to be the people who just walk north right through the path as if it's their own personal green brick road. -
It's not just the tourists . . . it's the people who work here. How do I know? Let's just say I am writing this from 41st and 8th . . .
-
Bit confused here. Are the liberal fascist s bag cyclists the ones wearing spandex or the faux-messengers? I gotta know if I am one or not.

from Merriam Webster online:
1often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control <early>
And I believe that is 'try to tell me' -
I am not from Ohio, I am from 10th St between 6th and 7th in what is now considered to be a part of Park Slope. In my youth, not so much. Bicyclists are required to abide by the same traffic laws as motorists. I would like to clothesline every asswipe fuck on a thousand dollar bike riding through a red light when I'm trying to cross.
-
I wasn't saying YOU were from Ohio. My all caps voice is my hypothetical quoting voice, as in, THESE DAMN OHIO-AMSTERDAM BIKE COMMUNISTS AND THEIR PATCHOULI EXHAUST! [edit for clarification:]inagaddadavida_loca said something about share the road and i was merely offering the usual response to that phrase (i.e. fuck you my road).
Brook, my bike was considerably cheaper, so would you be so kind as to just let me pass without the clothesline? Otherwise I'm going to have to aim for direct collision. -

Heh, thousand dollars. In the interest of cordial relations btwn you and cyclists, I'll refrain from adjusting your view on fancy bicycle valuations.
Howdy, Stranger!
