Can anyone suggest a good place to go to for dress alterations?

  • Randex Cleaners on 6th Ave and 5th St. Mrs. Han is The Best.
  • I've used her and I don't think she's that good. OK, but not wonderful...I wouldn't give her anything too fancy. I love woman at the dry cleaners on 7th Ave off between 8th & 9th Sts
  • i used agnes tailor shop on prospect park w around 16th street. pretty decent in quality & price, i went there for a bridesmaid dress. i ended up spending less than all of the girls.
  • I second Agnes tailor shop. Also brought a bridesmaid dress there and she did a great job.
  • I also took a bridesmaid dress to Agnes. She did a great job, but it was pricey, imo ($85). More than just hemming but the hemming cost a lot--she charged by the layer and there were three layers of fabric, straight hem (only the top showed and needed to be neat.)

The job was fantastic, though so maybe I just don't know what these things cost.
  • Thanks for the suggestions...anywhere closer to north slope?
  • So I went to Agnes and she was fantastic! Thanks for the recommendation..it seems that there's only one good seamstress in park slope for dresses!
  • i wanted to bump this up--didn't agnes move? if so, does anyone know where?

  • I've had her do more things (hems, remove pockets, and the like) and been very pleased with her work and prices. Last time I went, which was a couple of months, she had just moved a few blocks away:

    270 Prospect Park W

  • thanks so much!
