ice ice baby

I realize I sound like a broken record. I didn't fall this time, though - I was "smart" enough to walk in the street. but yeah, once again, building owners failed to salt (even Tom's, which is surprising, as they are usually very good about clearing away snow and ice around the restaurant) or spread any traction-inducing material in front of their buildings, leading to me skidding around on the ice. I saw ONE person spreading salt on the steps of a building, but he wasn't venturing anywhere near the sidewalk.

anyway, make it go away, or I'll entertain myself this evening by calling 311 on y'all.

  • i agree. it's ridiculous.
  • Helped up a woman who wiped out in front of the newsstand, at the Park entrance to the 7th Ave stop -- she skinned the crap out of her knee and ripped her jeans.

If you're a property or business owner, obviously, its your responsibility to maintain a passable, navigable sidewalk -- but come on, if you know its going to be icy and dangerous out there, maybe consider not wearing spikey heels?
  • It's rampant. I talked to a woman today who slipped on the stoop of her brownstone. Her landlord apparently never had the place shoveled and it iced over.
  • It definitely seemed like the big snowstorm got cleaned up faster than this past little one. People were just lazier this time around. Going along the Grand Army Plaza circle on the inside is taking your life in your hands. Completely iced over the whole way.
