Dog Day Afternoon - Shot (and Shot) in Park Slope?

NY1 just reviewed the 2-DVD special edition release of Dog Day Afternoon, the legendary 1975 Al Pacino film, based on the true story of the 1972 robbery in which a guy who held up a bank to pay for his lover's sex-change operation.

The NY1 article says the robbery took place in Park Slope. Is that true?? If so, where in Park Slope was the bank?

According to this blurb in Newsday ("It Happened in New York!"), they filmed the exterior shots for the movie on Prospect Park West between 17th and 18th Streets, which is pretty much right next to the expressway.

But according to Wikipedia, the actual hold-up took place at a Chase Manhattan bank in Gravesend.

from what i've heard the bank scenes were shot on Prospect Park West between 17th + 18th streets.
diagonally across from Elora's, the mexican restaurant.
the building has been turned into residential units. i think...

Subject: Dog Day

Shot in what is now considered Windsor Terrace. PPW between 17-18th Sts.
The movie's location was not the scene of the original robbery, which was in Gravesend.
The building used as the "bank" is now residential.
The walkups across the street are still there, one of them was used as the exterior of the barbershop/police command center.
Aerials in the film clearly show the Prospect Expressway, Bishop Ford HS and its TV transmitter, and the Green-Wood Cemetery.
One can see the location now by going to Windows Live Local and seeing bird's eye photos.
