Explosion? — Brooklynian

Explosion?

Did anyone hear what sounded like an explosion near Park Place and Underhill/Washington? Loud sonic boom and windows shook…more than just a car accident sound….anyone, or am I crazy??

  • Maybe Park Place shares a mysterious fault line with Morris County, NJ?

  • I heard that--it was near my house. I think it was a garbage truck hitting something, but I'm not sure what happened. But I definitely heard an extremely loud noise.

Actually, I live where the earthquake was and it was totally weird. I thought it was the furnace kicking in. But it got louder and shook and rumbled more for about 10-15 seconds. Dakota, our german shepherd, looked up at me with wide eyes the whole time like "What the hell is this??"

I went outside thinking something blew up somewhere, but all was quiet.

I never would have guessed it was an earthquake.

    Pretty crazy...

You know there is a fault line down the whole east coast. Maybe you felt an aftershock.

Yes. It has been known on this board throughout.

My daughter lives in Fort Greene and has lived in Brooklyn for several years. In fact, she's moving and looking for another place in the next few months and wouldn't live anywhere but Brooklyn. She loves it.

And let me say that it was this board that totally changed the way I saw BK and life in the city.
  • Oh...RIIIIIIGGGHHT, I forgot! I knew that! Sorry DW!
  • OK, something just happened, my apartment shooked, stuff hanging fell off my walls.

    Is that you Daver?
Yeah, I live in the woods with the bears, coyote and a mulititude of deer and other critters. Really.

And I have a niece and her husband who live in Sunset Park, another niece and boyfriend in Carroll Gardens and a nephew in Chelsea (obviously not BK). So there are a number of links to Brooklyn for me.

And I didn't feel the latest explosion, so I have no idea what it could be. It wasn't Jersey this time.
