Any feedback on The Slope Fitness? — Brooklynian

Any feedback on The Slope Fitness?

edited November -1 in Park Slope
I was a member of Body Reserve for a year and found it to be an ok experience. The people were nice, rarely crowded when I worked out and very close to my house. I am hesitant to join again, however, because I wasn't really into the bare bones feel to the gym. I am curious about The Slope Fitness and was wondering if anyone could provide me with feedback, including rates as they don't list them on their website.

Thanks!

I was a member for over a year, they kept extending my account 'cause they sucked. There's a lot of turnover of trainers and it took forever to get my free session that came with membership, never could schedule the free massage tho. I basically stopped going after the 6th month.
  • Was a member for two years there. I would go in the evening after work and it would be tough to find free machines. Plus the locker room is TINY! Now I belong to Body Reserve. I don't think I have ever waited for a machine there. Yes it is bare bones but i think it is much better and everything is spread out.
  • I like it, but I go during off hours and use cardio and weight machines on my own - no classes, no trainer. The place is well kept and clean.
  • Most of their trainers went on to open the Fitness Collective locations. That should, at least, tell you they hire knowledgable people.

I only went in there way back in 2001 when I was gym shopping. I found it very small.

Speaking of "small"...what is the Fitness Collective? From the street outside, it looks like one person running on one treadmill in a small box on a room. Is there a gym in there?
  • I like it and would have no reservations suggesting ti to people. I have been going for a number of years. I have never had to wait more then a few minutes for equipment. FWIW I mostly use free weights and eliptical. I go early in the morning, and evenings around 530.
I can't comment on classes or trainers since I have never used.

that person running may, sadly, be me. :(

It's a personal training facility. One-on-one training, additional attention paid to you, none of the gym floor hustle you get from trainers at big gyms. They've got classes for members as well.

It's about as pricey as personal training anywhere, but I've been going there since last August and can tell you that, if you're willing to make the commitment, they can help you do wonders. Without exagerration, they have completely changed the way I view myself.

Oh...well if you're curious that person on the other side of the window, outside eating popcorn, is me.

Plus there is no monthly gym fees, just personal training. Perfect for me as I usually hate paying gym fees whan I am only using a personal trainer.
  • The problem I have with Slope Fitness is that it is really small for a gym. Sure, it is clean, but it feels like a clean, bright dungeon. Gyms are supposed to be comfortable, not cramped. I am much more comfortable at Harbor Fitness or the Y which have a lot of space and are cheaper.

....or are you the person entering O'Connor's at 10:00 AM? :)
