Sotto Voce Brunch

I know, I know some people do not like this place. You have to try their brunch. We had Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine and the Eggs Salmone and the French Toast. The eggs come with a side of rosemary potatoes with onions, spinach and diced red peppers. You also get a basket of pound cake and bread with jelly. UNlimited Bloody Mary's, Champagne or Mimosa's all for 12.95.

The placed was packed and this was after 2pm.

  • Cheap yes, lots of food yes, quality -no.
  • Their brunch stinks, their food in general stinks, they stink!

    Gotta agree with that critic.

Sometimes when you do brunch you are just in a cheeery mood (often thanks to unlimited mimosas and the combination sugar andalchohol high) but the echy food (IMO) is pretty hard to ignore in this restaurant.

No need to invalidate his opinion. Sotto Voce is far from my favorite restaurant in the Slope (and doesn't touch Primo Atto for Italian), but I can't understand the hatred of their food this board gives. Almost everyone I personally know who has eaten there has liked this place. Granted, I've only been there twice, but I've never had a bad experience there, either.
  • It is what it is - a place to go for nothing special pasta/food when you don't feel like boiling a pot of water, throwing some penne in and heating up the tomato sauce. Nothing wrong with that. If you wan to spend under $10 for a plate of food I guess you can do it at SV as well as anywhere.

For me it's a matter of value & quality - I would really rather eat at home than go there.

Everyone I know who has eaten there has never had a bad opinion about the place. The place is always crowded and the fact that they are opening restaurants and not closing them has to account for something.

I never mentioned pasta. I don't know who eats pasta for brunch anyway. We prefer eggs, french toast, pancakes or if Mexican like Miracle Grill burritos, quesadilla's, huevos rancheros.

I am not invalidating Slopers opinion. I think you mis-understood what I was trying to say. I gave this restaurant afew tries and I don't enjoy eating there and don't!
  • I am one of those who likes Sotto Vocce...but it doesn't hold a candle to Primo Atto
  • In the beginning, went to Sotto Voce twice, both times with different friends and both times the food was blah at best (both of these times were for brunch). And, the service was horrible! both of my friends agreed. i told hubby how bad it was, he never believed me because the place was always packed-so, I went again this time with hubby (for dinner). He agreed, very blah food and bad service!

A year or two pass, Sotto Voce still going strong, we can't figure it out! Think maybe it's us and we should try again. So, we go, this time bringing two other couples with us (again, for dinner). Again, blah boring tasteless (IMO) food and horrible service! The other couples we were with both said they never wanted to go there again. So, this is what I base my opinion of Sotto Voce on.
  • i absolutely can't stand this place.

the food and the service were horrific.

i could make better pasta blind-folded.

olive garden is always packed too...that doesn't make it good.
  • Good grief, I mentioned eggs and french toast for brunch, not pasta. Fine with me some of ya'll don't like it, it's crowded enough.

    Bon Appetit.
