BK visit — Brooklynian

BK visit

I am coming at the end of feb. to explore BK neighborhoods to live in. Any suggestions as to what to do or see? I want to be able to walk around w/o concern as I will be by myself. Thanks!

  • What neighborhoods ya comin to? That'll give a little more direction on tellin ya what/where to check out.
  • I was looking into greenpoint, williamsburg, ft. greene and maybe carroll gardens
  • when you come to Carroll Gardens, just start walking. From Smith & 3rd-ish allll the way down till Atlantic, hang a left and go up to Court St & go all the way back. You'll see most of the good stuff and get a nice stroll in.

    Eat at Frankie's 457
  • in Ft Greene check out Maggie Brown on Myrtle Ave (it's in Clinton Hill but it's like two blocks over from the FG border). DeKalb Ave in Ft Greene also has tons of nice places. Franklin St in Greenpoint seems to have a new business pop up every other day or so, tons of great dining/drinking/buying stuff options.
  • cool, are there any "italian neighborhoods"?
  • Graham Ave in Williamsburg, and Carroll Gardens in general is an old Italian neighborhood. And there's Bensonhurst but that's a bit of a subway ride from all the places you've listed.

I'm open to check out all! I'll be there for 3 days so I'm just going to spend it checking out different areas. I remember you said you live near mcgolrick park, is there any blocks that would be interesting to walk around there?

Yep, for a few blocks between Metropolitan and Grand, in fact, Graham Avenue is renamed Via Vespucci. So that gives you a hint that you might want to check it out. :)

A few block farther south, btw, its name changes again: Avenue of Puerto Rico.

A few block farther south, btw, its name changes again: Avenue of Puerto Rico. It actually goes all the way up the the BQE as Via Vespucci. Some great shops to check out, especially the deli's!

Well McGolrick itself is just a beautiful place to just sit and relax for a few, take a breather. Nassua and Norman Aves between I'd say Russell (north west corner of McGolrick) and Manhattan would be good to check out, lots of Polish shops and restaurants. For good (and cheap!) Polish eats check out Lomzynianka, on Manhattan and Bedford. Good portions, affordable, killer pierogies and BYOB (hello cheap bottles of Zywiec from the bodega). And you'll love the how they have it decorated!
  • bedford ave in williamsburg is very nice as well.
