Last week an attendant at the garage where I keep my car backed another car into my front bumper, leaving a deep gauge. I had an insurance adjuster from Geico look at it, and he authorized up to $560 for the repair (didn't do me much good... I have a $500 collision deductible).

I went back through old posts on this board and found a recommendation from LongTimeSloper for Nam's Auto Body, at Baltic Street between Bond and Nevins. I brought the car in on Monday, and he quoted me an estimate of about one-half of the amount authorized by Geico. I was very, very surprised and pleased, and somewhat concerned that the work might be shoddy. He said the car would be ready on Thursday.

He called this morning, and I went to pick up the car. I could not find any evidence that the bumper had ever been damaged. Nam's had done a wonderful job. The price was exactly what he had estimated.

This experience completely ruins all of my preconceptions of dealing with auto body shops. I never before experienced honesty coupled with competence.
