Sewing Supplies in Park Slope

Looking for a place to buy needle and thread and buttons and the like.... We refuse to go in Su Casa due to the horrible surly service the staff in there have given us, but we can't find anywhere else. Any recommendations? :?:

We've tried Three Pedlers, but they do not sell buttons.

Do you drive? There is this fun sewing shop out in Bay Ridge called the Rag Shop. It is a great place for fake fur and weird fabric and all kinds of sewing supplies and those weird suburban craft materials that you can use for other things that aren't surburban. things like pipe cleaners, and fabric paints, and fake flowers and foam, glue guns with packs of 1,000 glue sticks.

Subject: sewing suppiles store

Back when Park Slope had a variety of useful shops, Sew Brooklyn (on 7th b/ 3rd & 4th) sold fabric, felt, patterns and all sorts of sewing and craft supplies. Does anyone know whether they moved somewhere or just went out of business? Su Casa does indeed continue a long tradition of surly and unhelpful service at that location (formerly Fabric Alternative).

The best sewing shop in the city is P&S on Lafayette in Manhattan. I forget the cross streets but they're in the book. They're closed Saturdays, and open Sundays. Incredible supply of fabrics and very inexpensive.

Subject: sew brooklyn... bay ridge...

Sew Brooklyn had lots of things you are looking for but if you took a sewing class there, they insisted you had to buy your supplies (fabric at least) there which previously when I took sewing classes in Manhattan that was not the case. I only took one class there but I was not that impressed. I always thought if they weren't so obsessive about buying sewing supplies there (which most people probably would do anyway) they would have done better.

I do not think they opened elsewhere although they did not really provide any info, to my knowledge, upon closing. It was nice to have it in the neighborhood, I agree.

The Bay Ridge store sounds interesting. You'd think there'd be more sewing supply places in all of Brooklyn but I guess not.

There's a place on Bridge Street right off Fulton Mall called Save-A-Thon. Tacky, yes I know, but they carry threads, cheap fabrics, notions of all kinds, low end, of course. Lots of very cheap fabric stores on Bridge St. as well.

Sadly, most of the cheap fabric stores on Fulton closed a few months ago. Its now down to save-a-thon and Fulton Fabric, which is new and has a decent selection of extremely cheap upholstery and home decorating fabrics. Also china silk for 1.50/yard.
