Clinton Hill Benefit for Fire Victims — Brooklynian

Clinton Hill Benefit for Fire Victims

On February 24 at 5:30 am, a fire was set on the first floor hallway of a building at 1033 Pacific Street. A half hour later, another fire was started nearby. Four of our neighbors died in the blaze.

On Wednesday March 15 8 pm, we are gathering to help out the victims and to come together as a community. My band Kakande will play the beautiful and rockin' melodies of West Africa. Kakande is lead by Famoro Dioubate, a master of the Mande xylophone from his native Guinea. Our band includes superstars from Guinea, including Missia Saran "The African Tina Turner" Diabate, and I will be add my voice on the cello.

We would like to come, at least for a short while, both for the cause and for the music. We won't be able to stay very long -- work the next day --but we'd love to come for a little while at the beginning and hope you will already be playing by 8:00!

    Good luck with the fundraiser.
