I start buying all the extras.
-
define extras. i have i extras, everything i need is here.
-
I just went to apple.com. A base Mac - 999.00, after I configured it the way I wanted it, 2,045.00.
-
what did you add to it?
-
She probably upgraded the processor, RAM and drive.
-
If that's the case, here's a lesson for you: Never let Apple upgrade the RAM. Unless things have changed, they seriously over-charge for it. Buy the RAM on-line (Newegg, etc.) and do it yourself.
Also, apple.com often has refurbs that you can buy. I've never gotten one from them, but from what I've seen on message boards people have been happy. -
the refurbs have the same warrantees, and the prices are good. had i had the time, and didn't have to have the data professionally moved over, i'd have bought one in a heartbeat.

I'm going to try to get to the apple store tomorrow to play around with one. I haven't had much experience with them so I'd like to try it out before I buy. -
Hmmm... sign up for the TigerDirect email blast, if you want something cheap (<$600) but still capable in the Windows world. They seem to be blasting 'em out every other day, lately...
-
Also keep an eye on woot.com - I've seen a few really good deals on laptops there.
-
oohhhh, i love woot
-
Yeah woot rocks. Especially twofer Tuesdays.
-
they had a side deal one day at tiger direct, 8 gig usb flash sticks for under $10
-
I got TWO 8gb sticks on woot for $12 once.
-
nice!

It was a twofer Tuesday and they sold out in about an hour. But I can take pictures and I can prove it. -
Dell. Cheap but not crappy. On-site next-day service in any major city in the world -- they come to you at home, in the hotel, where ever, and fix it. Unbeatable.
-
putting "quality" aside, is that really where you want your $$ going?

from wikipedia:
"In 2005, Susan and Michael Dell were among 53 entities that each contributed $250,000 (the maximum legal donation) to the second inauguration of President George W. Bush"
i'd say that's the tip of the iceberg -
damn BP :P

been keeping republicans out of my home since 1965

I'm in the market for a new laptop as well. My macbook of 5+ years is about to crap out any minute now.
Was thinking about the Sony Lifestyle laptop
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=8198552921644608896 - it's got an 8 in screen and only weighs 1.4 lbs.
I'm waiting for my '08 tax return before making the decision. The best thing is I can take the cost (itemized) off my '09 taxes. -
FYI, anyone looking for a new computer (or other random, often tech related, items) should head over to woot.com. They're having a woot off today!
For those that don't know, woot.com usually sells one item per day, often with a good discount off of what you would normally pay at a retail store. Today, however, they're selling off item after item. Keep refreshing the page every few minutes to see if anything of interest comes up for you.
