Something has to be done

drunken revival
edited November -1 in Park Slope
For the past two days the Bank of America on 7th Ave and 9th has been sounding its alarm. It's not a bank, but rather a two ATM room with a view... and an alarm.

For two days it has been blasting out beeps in series of threes - non-stop. It is very loud. It rings in my ears...a public nuisance, a blemish, a scourge of a corporation and just disgusting.

I called the 78th Precinct - it's would actually be quieter to sleep in the precinct than in my bedroom right now. I have nicer sheets though. The cops told that they have to wait for the alarm company to call them. Bottom line - this isn't their deal.

That is unless someone can make it their deal. Is there not political representive, a landlord, or a group of concerned citizens that can do something?

  • steal the atm money.
  • Nice belly button.
  • Maybe call the nearest bank branch that is actually staffed and see if someone there can point you in the right direction? Or look in the window of the ATM room and see if they have an alarm company sticker or something? If you can bear the noise that close to it.

I feel for you, though. I once had a few days of a hallway smoke detector beeping like that - quieter, yes, but also right outside my bedroom practically (it was one of those big institutional smoke detectors so I couldn't just pop the battery myself). I was ready to snap by day two.
  • Break the windows. At least make them pay for their public nuisance.
  • Sounds like a job for Obamanut.
  • not the first time this has happened, either.
  • No, it is not the first time this has happened.

It sounds as if the batteries in the alarm are fading... it's making that blunted, weak sound.

    It will be over soon.
  • Why is it going off anyway? Is the door broken or something?
  • It's just a harmless metaphor for their stock prices.....fading away.
  • you and as many others file a noise complaint. i believe there is a law against alarms that go un attended.
