my curls are changing..help!!

Ok girls, I hope I don't sound crazy but I've googled this many times and can't find jack. My hair is naturally curly (really curly) and lately it seems to be changing. My curls look sloppy, don't curl all the way through, or some pieces are straight. I've tried cutting it to see if it will come back to "life" but to no avail. Any ideas????

I'm sorry I don't have any suggested fixes, but I have some thoughts on possible causes. Did you recently move? If so your hair could be reacting to differences in the water in your new place. This same problem happened to someone I know, but it was due to a pregnancy - after she gave birth, her curls were never as curly.

I don't have curly hair, but advice from my friends who do:

- get a good haircut (sounds like you did that)
- never dry your hair with a towel and don't ever rub it. Get an old 100% cotton shirt and just blot your hair dry

Hair changes over time, too. When I was younger, my hair was poker straight. As I've gotten older, it's developed its own waves.

I feel ya -
I have curly/wavy hair and the longer my hair gets the sloppier the curl (and like you, some parts look straight). Also I have to use a deep conditioner once a week because the drier my hair is the frizzier and uncurled my hair looks.

Best product on curls: Bumble and Bumble curl conscious cream and all the curl conscious products. I have tried EVERYTHING out there and find this product to be a must have for curly hair people. I also alternate my shampoo with Bumble and Bumble (i.e., I use Pantene for two weeks than Bumble and Bumble for two weeks), which for some reason seems to work on keeping my hair tame.

Tricks I have learned are: never scrunch your curls use the palm of your hand to lift the bottom of the hair upwards. If there are a few spots that dont curl properly, after applying your product take it and twist it around your finger then let go.

i had a friend who had really curly hair, but a few years ago it just went straight (over a few months time). not pin straight, but certainly not the curly locks she had before. she can't even make it curly with product. my hair certainly isn't as curly as it once was. i think age/hormone changes can affect it.

i used to have very curly hair and post-30 it became straighter and smoother. it still has some wave to it if i let it air dry, but nothing like what it used to do. for me, it was a part of getting older.

Weird, both my sister and I are getting curlier hair as we get older. My hair is getting more frizy with age, so now I need to blow dry it or use a curling iron. Like wise my hair color has darken dramatically from when I was young. Which I don't really mind, it's just weird.

For you, it could be just age. Or hormones/change in water/location, stress...
