Banner Supplies — Brooklynian

Banner Supplies

Let's just say I wanted to hang a banner or a sign outside my window. Where could I get some supplies in the 'hood, preferably weather-resistant, like fabric or paint? Cheap is obviously better.

Also, does anyone know if putting a banner up is regulated in some way? I want to make sure I'm exercising my freedom of expression all legal-like.

Thanks.

  • Residential leases usually have some boilerplate regarding the attachment and/or affixing of anything to the outside of the building. However your right to "express yourself" has always trumped those clauses assuming your banner is simply strung between 2 windows or something like that. I am presuming your banner will say something to the effect of "RENT STRIKE" and not "Massage Therapy $50 Happy Ending $100.
  • Oh, best banner material? Find some old awning preferably with the grommets. Use spray paint on the back side.
  • Is that what a happy ending goes for these days? No recession special?

Thanks for the banner advice. We got some spraypaint but I think we're going to go old-school with an old bedsheet. The project has been delayed due to a plumber nosing about the place, but we haven't given up altogether.
