bedbugs and public transportation

A friend reecently told me the wooden benchges in the subway of the A/C line are infested with bedbugs. Now. Small bug was on my coat on the B25 and I'm terrified it was a bedbug!!! What are the odds???

You can never be too careful (or too paranoid) about bed bugs. There have been several articles in the local papers about bed bugs on public transportation- it is really scary. Especially now that the buses have cloth seats. I always wrap my coat, scarf, hat in a huge plastic bag when I get home, and change my clothes right away.

Can never be too careful about bed bugs, I had them in Queens. Enough to make you wrap your coat and scarf and all that, but I think if you just avoid sitting on things that appear to be infested with bugs, and burn calories standing... you're probably safe.

And don't hook up with sketchy people from craigslist that might also have bed bugs. Damn roommate.

I'm super paranoid. As soon as I get home, I take off all my clothes and put them in the freezer----I know, crazy. My freezer is full of ice and clothes. After a week of the freezer, I wash them and then put them up. I tell my friends that if I see them sitting on a subway bench, they can't sit on my furniture. This might be why I don't get many visitors, lol.

Wow. I had bed bugs 3 years ago and was pretty paranoid for months after that, but I've never frozen my clothes (even when I had them - I got rid of the bed, sheets, mattress, some furniture etc., but simply washed my clothes).
However, I'm still occasionally taking out a flashlight at night and check my mattress. It's a curse, those bastards are evil.
