  • Obamanut wrote: [quote=Peanuts]I wonder why Obamanut lives here when he seems to hate the neighborhood and the people who live here (and why he cares how much people spend). I've been here over 30 years...if I hated it as much as he appears to, I would move.

I wonder why most PS supermarkets have such narrow aisles.
I have several reasons preventing me from moving at the moment. And I don't "care" about how much people spend; rather, it's entertainment to me. I am like the Jane Goodall of Park Slope, taking great pleasure in trying to make sense of a community that's incapable of seeing itself from the outside, through the eyes of an objective, rational observer.

No you are not just an observer, you are a jerk. You are not just being entertained you are a hazard.

You said this with pride "I once had a nuevo-Slope mother furiously tell me "Don't even bother" because I was apparently a few seconds too late opening a store door for her as she entered in front of me. I guess for those few seconds, I forgot my place in society. "

I assume that if you knew she was a mother, she was with a child.

Be a fucken gentleman. Hold the door and shut up..

and name calling redacted when people tell you to leash you dog. LEASH YOUR DOG

I feel much better, thank you
  • Y'all are on a really short leash. If this starts to get out of control I'm locking this thread. No warnings.

Did you use that "leash" pun on purpose, nice :drunken: :drunken:

Shouldn't you be out taking more photos of pooped up lampposts, or humoring your "buddy" by listening to his tall tales about beating up women walking dogs?

    Seriously.

  • I wonder what type of drugs Obamanut is on and where I can get some.

I also wonder why my cat flies around the house talking after he makes a poop.

Thankfully, neither of these things keep me up at night

Since you obviously missed the point of that (very old) post, let me put it very simply for you:

When I looked up from what I was reading and noticed her highness, SlopeMom, struggling to get her $500 stroller with the BMX bicycle wheels through the door, I tried to do the old school New Yorker thing and lend a hand. WHEN I NOTICED HER. Of course, as you must concede, it is difficult to help someone when you are not aware of their existence.

If I would've taken the nuevo-Slope route, however--been willfully oblivious to everyone's needs except for my own and simply ignored SlopeMom--then apparently I would've been fine. It was only because I relied on my native NY senses that I was penalized by this woman.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry all, I got suck into the Obamanut vortex of hate.
  • i wonder why so many people bitch and complain about rude children, yet, when one of my kids holds a door open for someone or says thank you to them, that the adult doesn't give the appropriate response back?
  • i wonder if the winston people know (like actually know, not cyberspace know) the obamanut people and what their interactions in person are like
  • i wonder why people think i'll be more likely to use a pharma-pseudocal* if it's "invented by a teacher!" or a mom? i'm a teacher, and i'm pretty sure biochemists are better at that stuff than i am.

but i'd be happy to cram some dustbunnies into a gelcap, if anyone wants to buy them. invented by a teacher!

*new word. could use some work.
  • LongTimeSloper wrote: i wonder why so many people bitch and complain about rude children, yet, when one of my kids holds a door open for someone or says thank you to them, that the adult doesn't give the appropriate response back?
Um, it's because you live in PARK SLOPE. The universally-understood rules of common courtesy and regard for others do not apply here. Not saying "Thank you" when someone holds a door for you in this neighborhood is not the exception, it's the NORM.

Come on, this has already been established.
  • Yeah, umm, Park Slope or not, they get an earful from me! I have shamed more than one person into saying thank you or you are welcome to my kids-LOL! I mean, come on! These are the same people who bitch all the time about 'rude park Slope" kids, so, if my kid says thank you to you, you say you are welcome. If my kid holds a door open for you, you say thank you! And if you don't, I will say something to you!

Just like the man a few weeks ago who totally ignored one of my kids telling him how cute his dog was, he heard him, but chose not to say anything. Well, I am not exactly a shrinking violet and said something right to him. The poor kid said to me, "it's ok mommy, he's an adult". To which I told my child, that is no excuse for them to be rude! I mean, if you don't "rude" kids, then do the right thing as an adult. i am trying to raise good, productive citizens here!

    %Rant over!

I wonder if this cold and stuffed up nose will ever go away................

I wonder if Flexichick bought any good grapes at Rossman's...........
  • Forget kids, I've held doors open and sometimes never get a thank you. I say you're welcome out loud yet I'm sure it doesn't register to the entitled.
  • You go eggcream!!!!

I do the same thing. And you're right, they are and will always be oblivious to everything but their own concerns.

Sometimes tacking a sarcastic "your majesty" to the end gets the point across.

    R train.
  • I wonder why people honk their horn so much at neighborhood gridlock? Do they think they are gonna get anywhere faster or do they just want to punish the world?

That's what I wonder.
    I hate them!

If people walking on the sidewalk know that it used to be just dirt.

I'll try that. I also point out that they dropped something when they deliberately litter. I mean there are garbage cans on almost every corner.
  • yoda wrote: I wonder why there are so many threads devoted to coffee, clothes and doctors
That's funny, because judging by the way the average nuevo-Sloper dresses, you would think that clothing is rock bottom on their list of priorities.
  • I wonder when some will take the example of their namesake and consider the greater good instead of continuing down the pathway of mockery and division.
  • i wonder why some people are trouble makers
  • I wonder if the kids playing chicken with my car today, who(m?) I almost hit, know how stupid they are.
