Re: this crazy real estate market
Ok, so in attempt to find an apartment for a relative, I have been going to countless websites. (By the way the prices for a decent apartment in a decent neighborhood these days are RIDICULOUS!) I've applied to a number of ads, unfortunately (with the exception of a few realtors like Corcoran group), the only replies I seem to get are from these scam artist. A two bedroom apartment in park slope $850, two bedroom duplex for $800, etc. Then their requesting $300 deposit fees or security deposit or 1st month rent without any contact, except via email of course because their job caused them relocated. I'm just getting so frustrated, I guess that's my fault for even falling for such nonsense.

Hum, you are not really hitting the right website for this stuff. we are not about rentals. Check craigslist for ads on rentals. You say, "decent apartment in a decent neighborhood these days are RIDICULOUS!" but I think you might be out of touch. Prices have been out of control for years. If you see a " A two bedroom apartment in park slope $850" on any site then you are insane. Even a con artist does not fake the market that low. You'd be a fool even to look at that ad.
Want PS rentals? Look at $2000 for a 1 bedroom (if lucky), maybe 1500 for a studio. -
I have tenants who have been looking for months for a place in park slope. They said that 1 out of every 6 ads is actually accurate.
You have to be persistent and don't even bother with ads listing a 2 bedroom in park slope for $850.
What seems too good to be true often is.........
You might want to get a broker to assist you
