480 St. Marks - thoughts?
Hi all-
I was really excited to find a studio at 480 St. Marks, but then I researched 555 Prospect Assoc/Alma Realty. I was surprised about all the negative feedback regarding heat/gas, bedbugs, and C of O. Most of the threads I read were from a few years ago and none specifically pertained to the 480 St. Marks building (except for the laundromat postings).
For those of you who live there, what are you feelings on the building now? Is the management responsive? What type of problems are you having? I hate bugs- how is the bug situation in the building? Also, the entrance to the building seems a little sketch, have you ever felt unsafe in the building or the neighborhood.
Thanks!

I've lived across the street at 475 St. Marks - also an Alma Realty building - for the past 2 years. Just moved this past weekend around the block to 545 Prospect. I've never had anything but a positive experience renting from Alma. Mike, the property manager, has always been helpful & accommodating.
I have a friend who lived in a 1 bedroom at 480 St. Marks and he, too, had a positive experience. (He only moved out 'cuz he lost his job and the rent was too much for him to handle.)
So, I was surprised to find all the threads on here about 555 Prospect Assoc/Alma Realty earlier today, as well.
I say, if you are excited about the studio, take it. They are nice buildings, well maintained, and I've found management cooperative and friendly. (Though granted, I've never had an issue greater than a slow draining tub...)
Howdy, Stranger!
