  • i loved parenthood. loved it.
  • Actually, I forgot he was in BABY MAMA. But, yeah - he was funny in that. Though it really couldn't be considered a "Steve Martin film".
  • planes, trains and automobiles is on TBS right now.

true, but it goes to whether he is a "has been" id say; his best stuff in the past ten years has been more serious roles, not the wild and crazy guy schtick - novcaine, shopgirl and especially spanish prisoner
  • I fear Steve Martin is falling into Eugene Levy and Sam Jackson territory and just accepts any role with a paycheck.

The master of this is Christopher Walken, but he's forgiven because it's usually not a staring role, and he's the best part of any bad movie.

I am gonna go to the park to give him a hug, I hope he is there today!

what time should we look for you on Gothamist police reports?

Now I've got "King Tut...funky tut...born in Babylonia, got a condo made of stone-a" stuck in my head. Damn "you people"!

There filming, in the Picnic house... It was a pretty busy place. 2 giant tents lots of people standing around. Didn't see any movies stars :(
  • please let us know when they're going to be there again! Any sightings! (ok, this is what twitter is for, i know, i know)
    SHE IS MY HERO!!!
  • My opinion only. It is hard to be a "has been" if many people consider you a "NEVER WAS". Never liked him(Steve Martin) in anything. I think he has no talent whatsover and if he is even the slightest bit humerous it is because of the people around him. Meryl Streep is a very talented actress and no doubt she will make Martin look good even if he stinks the place out!!!
  • if you want to see a truly god awful movie, then just make a list of everything steve martins made in the last 15 years and pick one out of a hat

I disagree. He hasn't had a recent good movie, but he was great in comedic roles in The Jerk, Planes Trains and Automobiles, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and in dramatic roles in Roxanne and L.A. Story.
  • and don't forget The Jerk

I am still suffering from a head injury
  • "Parenthood" rules! And he is a fantastic host for SNL.

    YES! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^YES!
  • He also just released an album of Banjo music. Seriously. and from what I've heard, it's good. Very different, but a good listen and nice background noise.
  • any sightings? are they filming today?
  • The place has seemed in full swing (food tents and such) all week, by 7:30am when I take my dog to off-leash. No sightings, though.

They have lots of tents and trailers near the picnic house, Litchfield (sp?) parking lot, and down by the movie theater and there's lots of shuttling in cars between them (the movie crew does NOT seem to notice that there are traffic lights on the park road).
  • Don't forget Grand Canyon. It was a 1990's and it got pretty good reviews.

Anyway - Steve Martin is no has been. He built up enough points in his early career to allow him to take it easy now. Plus he has his writing and banjo playing (I had no idea). I love his articles in the New Yorker and the only time I watch SNL is when he guest hosts. The guy is a living legend IMHO.
  • This is the project that is being worked on
