200 Fifth in the slope has a chain restaurant/sports bar feel.

. hehe. hmm i guess they do serve american foods hehe. be on my list
. thanks forgotten about that place. need more suggestions!! -
Bonnie's Grill on 5th avenue and 1st St.
Excellent buffalo wings, burgers, sandwiches, chilli, and the most important food.........beer.
(p.s. if there are any Texans here that don't know it, Bonnie's grill stocks Lone Star at a whopping $3 a bottle. Best refreshment in the adjoining-neighborhood!) -

Soda
Tavern on Dean
and hey - stop disparaging the Wellesley girls, ok? this Wellesley girl ate shrimp and lentils from Joy last night. we're not all pathetic slaves to the cafeteria. -

Schnack is German, is it not?

yeah, for burger quality, I'd vote Bonnies or Soda - those burgers are almost (ALMOST) like having an amazing steak. -
It's a bit of a trek but Jack's Fifth Avenue at 5th and 13th has huge portions of very good American food for not that much money. Meatloaf, burgers, fried chicken...They're on zipmenu.com for the 11215 zip code.

Subject: Americana restaurant food
Amorina Pizza Rustica for pizza could be a safe bet for your friend (624 Vanderbilt at Prospect Pl).
I third the suggestion for Tavern on Dean (755 Dean Street at Underhill) -- very good American food!
For a more upscale option, Sorrel is excellent and the chef calls his cuisine "American home cooking" -- it's pretty gourmet but it's not ethnic so it might be a good option. (605 Carlton Ave., at St. Marks Pl.) -

You have to get her to try at least one thing that's out of her comfort zone while she is BK. How can she go her whole life without eating non-American food...
Man, I couldn’t live without eating different types of food… burgers and steak must get boring…
Good Luck!! -
Lighthouse on 5th is a bar but they serve a killer burger. Soda, ToD get my votes as well.
-
One more thought -- Muddy Waters (669 Vanderbilt Ave at Park Pl) has delicious, filling bagel sandwiches for $5! Good for lunch.
-
I recommend Bubby's in DUMBO or if you are willing to go into Manhattan try Houston's.
-
Katz's Deli on E. Houston. Second Street Cafe on 2nd and 7th Ave in the Slope. Two Boots, maybe, on the same block as 2nd Cafe.
-
Actually, I'm a big fan of Mitchel's Soul Food on Vanderbilt by Bergen. The cholesterol and sugar count will kill you in a NY minute, however, it is good southern stuff.
-
I second Bonnies Grill.

Howsabout taking her to El Carniviento? Perhaps one of their pork chops would sway her. -

argg bland girls suck! -
Oh man that sucks! Because Juniors is a lot more restaurant than Applebees or Chilli's will ever be. Its at least got tablecloths and glasses.

Have you tried any soul food restaurants? There is probably food she'd at least recognize there... -
wow... she doesn't like diners? She's a tough person to please..

Wow! They still serve food there. Thought they stopped bothering with the ruse. -
Ugh. Sorry to say it, but it sounds like this individual needs a slap upside the head. I'd make her a half dozen PB&J's that she could eat and take myself out for a decent meal.
Other than that, Snooky's might fill your prescription.
Edit: I will say Chili's, OG, and all that stuff isn't bad if you're on the road and need a quick pull-in.
Howdy, Stranger!
