Olive Vine on 7th and 15th
Scalino on 7th and 10th used to, but I think they got their license and don't do BYOB now (worth a call to ask, though) -

I don't understand. You can't do BYOB unless you have less than 20 seats or have a license. If you 20 seats or more you need a license to allow drinking whether you sell it or allow it to be brought in.

This thread is worth repeating. Restaurants come and go all the time.

Not anymore. Used to be. Sad. -
that is sad

Olive Vine comes to my mind too, but the "great bottle of wine" does not really fit with them. Their food is really good, but is it worthy of a great bottle of wine? Depends on what you mean I guess, but IMHO, falafel and lentil soup go better with a house (cheap) red ;-)

or specifically a "cheap and tasty" bottle from across the street!
-
Or a cheap and tasty bottle from right upstairs, since that's where I live! Sooo, ummm, watch out for the raccoon!

I will ring your bell next time to pick up a bottle. Or, rather, use my dog to continue eating at your window until I can break in. Whichever is easier. -
there's a raccoon?

Yes, but I should be clear it is NOT at olive vine, just in the vacinity of that restaurant (aka my apartment). I would not want it to affect anyone's desire to eat at Olive Vine, it's a lovely place.

yes, i read your other post. yikes.
(and i'm glad it's not at OV because i LOVE it there. and ali always tells me i'm beautiful, then giggles. who can argue with that?) -
Ok so it's not in the Slope but very close in Carroll Gardens at Smith & Sackett: ZAYTOONS. It is so so so good. They have the best hummus I've had in Brooklyn. Also their Zaatar bread with feta rocks my world.
-
Never eaten there, but Athena on 6th Ave near 15th St had a sign that they are BYOB with "no corking fee".
-
Get Fresh's new cafe is BYOB too. I haven't eaten there -- just got coffee, which was delicious, by the way -- so I can't comment on that, but the menu does look good.

Like doh... If you had no intention of sharing you should have not posted at all. -
Oh man, they're not Middle Eastern or Asian joints either. Cozy comfort food in romantic settings with table service. You offer one of the servers a taste of your wine and they wave the corkage. Sometimes they will give you free stuff. Special, special places.
-
So babel... you ready to reveal where these places are?... or we will torture you~ I admit I have been watching 24 and think I am Jack Bauer.
Only kidding. -

I don't understand.
I could be drinking a bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2002...put a bag of Doritos in front of me...you think I'm not going to eat the Doritos? -

Sounds like Lucali to me.
