PS restaurants with private dining for group dinner?

Does anyone have any recommendations for restaurants in PS that have a private dining area for a rehearsal dinner? Myself and my fiance have looked at these two so far.

Scottadito - have not tried the food yet, but the decor looks good
Black Pearl - the guy we spoke to was nice, but some of the reviews on this board are not so good.

Thank you for your help!

  • My gf and I used Night & Day's back room to host a baby shower, and things were great. The price was reasonable enough, and the management (Judy Joice) was very helpful. Might be worth checking out.
  • I think it depends on the number of people as to whether you can have the private downstairs room or not, but the food and service is very nice at Osteria Convivium on 5th Avenue. There is a private room downstairs but my friend was not able to rent it for just 15 people.
  • I had my wedding shower at Scottadito in the downstairs wine cellar - It was really nice. The food & service were excellent.

Tempo can also do a semi-private space for parties.
  • We're looking at 30-35 I would guess.
  • I think Snooky's Pub, on 7th avenue btween Carroll St. & Garfield Pl. has an upstairs room they rent.
    140 7TH Ave
    Brooklyn, NY 11215-2294
    (718) 788-3245
    Worth a shot.

Wow my parents had their 25th Anniversary there 30 years ago. I didn't know they were still there.
  • Yeah Snooky’s has been there a long time.

I think Tutta Pasta (sp?) on 7th avenue between Garfield & 1st street has a back room for parties.
  • As an FYI, we walked around PS on Saturday (in the rain/hail! Yuck!) looking at spaces. Here are some reviews:

Tutta Pasta - large space in the back, nothing special, but a good size

Scottadito - 2 spaces for Private Dining, probably our leading candidate

Black Pearl - downstairs private room, but it feels more like your parent's basement.

Tempo - big space, however, it is only semi-private, and the bathroom is behind you, so strangers can walk through your event.

Osteria Convivium - private room downstairs, more like a cellar. Though the rest of the restaurant has a very cozy feel, and I am looking forward to the outside patio in the back when there is better weather.

Night and Day - Nice bright back room, however the tables and chairs looked like $10 outdoor folding chairs. Still need to talk to Mgmt further.
