New Wine Shop on Franklin Between Prospect and St Marks
This place says "Discount Liquors" but it really masks a great wine shop that opened maybe a year ago. Owner will fix the sign in the Summer. After talking with people in the nabe, I realise people dont know about it. They have more than 500 Spanish wines and 150 French wines. Almost 2 dozen champaign (yes from Champaign France) great selection of Italian which is expanding. The owner recently special ordered some wine I really like from elsewhere. He's really nice. The store is right next to the Indian restaurant, for info.

not all that new, but yes, it is great now. the owner is super-nice, too.

How about the bulletproof glass?
-
if you tell them you're looking for wine, rather than hip flasks of alize, they'll buzz you into the main store.
if you are there to buy just liquor, no need to browse anyway. -
Does anyone know the hours of this shop?
-
open 'till 10. my man knows his wines! and he's been around for a while
-
not new. good selection, indeed.
i find the whole bullet-proof glass area and then getting buzzed in very strange..i like to look around at what whiskeys they have as much as wine -- but whatever -
I love that place because every time I go there to buy a bottle of liquor, no matter what time of year, the guy working the counter goes - "Oh wait, wait wait! I've got a gift set for this one - same price!" The Jameson coasters, Grey Goose shaker and Johnny Black glasses have all been put to great use.

Great selection- a whole shelf of Greek wine, a wall of good Italian all reasonably priced. I prefer it to every other wine shop in the area.

once nys passes the new law allowing grocery stores to sell wine, fishers on franklin ave is going to start to sell wine.
-
good for fishers. but i seriously doubt they'll find space for this kind of selection. (anyway, i'd settle for their carrying my preferred cat litter brand.)
-
what cat litter? just say it and they will get it. as far as the wine is concerned, they will make room. and like any thing else you will pay alot less at fishers.
-
if fisher's is taking requests, i request morning star sausage patties. :-)

Sweet! Then the grocery stores can put this great wine shop out of business, as well as about 1000 other small wine stores. Also, thankfully it's not a done deal. More info here: http://www.lastmainstreetstore.com/ -
Tell Fishers that I request meat with the expiration date not scratched out.
Howdy, Stranger!
