Park Deliciatessen- Skateboards, Flowers, Home and Garden — Brooklynian

Park Deliciatessen- Skateboards, Flowers, Home and Garden

Allow me to introduce myself, My name Is Michael Sclafani, my wife Valentine and I are opening the shop at 533 Park Place. It has been quite a challenge turning a 1950's era Deli into a workable flower and Skate shop, but hopefully we will be open in the next few weeks.I have done a majority of the work myself with the help of a few good friends. The space has lots of original details, like an enamel walk in fridge, and amazing tin ceiling. I was able to re-purpose lots of things I found from the previous tenants, and in the basement. The place was an absolute mess when we got the keys, We recycled anything we could , and whatever was still useable went to a guy opening a restaurant in LI.
The shop will be a full service skate shop, with all of the top brands. We will carry an assortment of locally grown flowers, available to grab and go or for local delivery. We will also have a nice selection of antiques, and inspiring new items that we find in our travels. I will post back when we have a exact opening date, but feel free to introduce yourself anytime.
We want to thank everyone that we have met for there kind and encouraging words, and look froward to meeting all of our new neighbors.

  • What are the cross streets?
  • Google maps: NW corner of Park Place and Classon
  • This is so exciting! I was just thinking how much I wished there was a proper flower shop in the neighborhood. While I love the flowers at Natural Land on Flatbush, their fare is relatively standard. Can't wait to see the hot spot!
  • I admire the sense of adventure you must have to start a small business in this volatile economy - bet of luck!
  • Is there some definition of "skate shop" that I'm not aware of? It seems an odd combination, flowers and skates. Good luck though!
  • very cool -- next to where the fire was?
  • this place, i'm thinking:

(PS, no fair guessing this on the flickr guess where game if you saw it here ;p )
  • I have been driving past your shop and been wondering what kind of place it would be. Please keep us posted about the opening,

Good luck with the business and 'welcome" to the neighborhood, thanks for not opening yet another hair saloon or Jamaican food place!

Not much of a skater, but i love flowers :)
  • What a weird combination. I wish you the best!
  • Subject: Sounds fun!

This place sounds right up my alley. I skate and garden. Can't wait to hit the Owl's Head Skatepark pool in Bay Ridge this spring and summer. Will check out this shop for sure. Just moved from Prospect Heights into PLG. Peace to all skaters, gardeners and otherwise.
  • Just wanted to update:
Starting friday we will have some Skateboard Decks, If the gate is open Just knock.

We will be opening on March 26 at 11am.

    Hope to see you then.
    Michael
  • That's awesome! That is definately a combo I've never encountered and never would have imagined, but hey, I don't see why it couldn't work.

Are you going to sell skate clothes, etc. also? I skated for almost 20 years but "retired" when I started approaching 30. It was getting too hard on my body, especially the ole' knees.

I would support your new shop by purchasing some clothing or something of the like (not a huge flower fan). I guess that makes me a poseur or something but my answer to that is get deez.
  • Home and Garden product has arrived!!!!
prices that will make you think its 1975!!
We hope to see you soon, you can see a pic of what we have in stock on our blog: http://parkdelicatessen.blogspot.com/

  • anyone know what was going on here today (like 2pm-ish)? 2 cop cars parked in the middle of the street and lots of police officers... I didn't want to interrupt while they were talking to people from the shop - any idea? just curious..
  • Nothing to see here folks... just an unruly patron in our shop yesterday....
  • ah ok - I was hoping it wasn't a robbery or anything - glad to hear!
  • The owner MIKE DOOK asaulted a skater and he went to jail for the day I don't think the patrons were bad. This guy has a little bit of anger problems. I would to if my skateshop had flowers in it and i didn't have a clue how to skateboard.... This guy is being untrue....... just thought you wanted the truth... Longneck cokes hahahaha stupid

Thanks for the info Jim. You should keep up the investigative journalism. Please review the coffee shops and eateries right away, word on the street is that some make shitty food and coffee, skate over there and keep us posted. You are spot on brah, we need no stinkin' flowers we need nail salons and places to buy loosies.
