Just counting offhand, between Kin, cousins and close friends I know 5 people well that are on the job or retired. If you go out to guys I grew up with or went to school with then you are probably out to 20 or more. Of the cops I know well I could only really say that I could see 1 of them being an asshole in uniform, that's mostly because he is incredibly short tempered and somewhat arrogant. The rest of them I would honestly say are good people and I can't imagine them being anything other then reasonable level headed people when they are on duty.

Just being a cop doesn't automatically mean that they are all great people that deserve to be treated like kings...That being said, they are all still strapping a gun to their bodies everyday and putting on a bullet proof vest and accepting a level of risk on a daily level that most people never have to accept and in that sense I agree with O-nut that they deserve a little more respect...
