  • I seem to recall that a lot of people from the Park Slope Parents listserv have had problems with this place. I'd approach with caution.

I'd also look around on the forums on Brownstoner.com

  • Try Modern Kitchens on 65th street in Bay Ridge. We use them for most of our rennovations. They do quality work,
  • We had HORRIBLE experiences with Garfield Kitchen and Bath. They kept telling us our stuff would arrive and it never did. It was unbelievable the way Brian would lie to us on the phone. He kept telling us, "this has never happened before," but after we were done with the whole mess, we met quite a few people who had the same type of issues with him.

We were waiting and waiting for our bathtub to arrive, one day he promised it would be delivered. I stayed home from work and he kept calling me saying the truck driver was just a couple miles away. Of course, the bathtub never came. Brooklyn Plumbing saved us, found us a tub in a non-standard size and delivered it in a day - which kept our contractor from walking off the job.

Dealing with this business was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. They have pretty stuff, but their service is unbelieveably bad. Go with anyone but them.

PM if you want more of the horrible details.
  • We had an ok experience there, we bought a bathroom vanity. We found it online alot cheaper so Garfield lowered their price.

They also lowered their prices on faucets.
  • RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!! PM me if you want more details.....
  • thanks everyone... glad i asked! idlewild mentioned modern kitchens in bay ridge... any other places you'd recommend?
  • er... I only ever bought one Italian shower assembly from them, and they lied to me about lead time needed (it took eleven weeks to get it) as well as the price ( charged me more on the back end, after I put down 100% of the price quoted). I'll never work with them again. They were not nice, and are not particularly honest.
  • kind of off topic since I've never purchased anything from them, but I live a couple of buildings down from what I think is the Garfield Kitchen & Bath owners, or at least its the driveway where the store's vans are parked every night. I have to say, their yard/driveway is a dump! Looks like a junkyard, and there were metal scraps sitting on the sidewalk for months. Such an eyesore on our block.
  • so i found out Garfield Kitchen and Bath CHANGED THEIR NAME to Brooklyn Kitchen and Bath... beware, it's the same place!!!
