Time Warner Cable? — Brooklynian

Time Warner Cable?

Anyone else having an outage today? Have called them twice; first time they didn't have an explanation; second time the recording said the outage was Carroll Gardens and Park Slope.
A couple times a week I have some problem or another with them.

  • I have no problem today. I recently switched from dsl to cable (with trepidation) and so far so good. From time to time people post and talk about the service being spotty but so far so good. I am a movie junky and the Netflicks Instant Play movies are so much better quality on cable so for that alone I have been doing a dance of joy.
  • yeah, my parents' time warner on prospect park west was/is horrible today.
  • My internet which is Time Warner has been acting whacky since last night
  • Time Warner Cable Can Suck It (see my thread in the lounge)
  • Subject: 24 hours later

It's now 24 hours since I posted my first message and my cable is still out.
To recap: The first I was aware of it was when my neighbor called around noon on Saturday to ask if I had reception because they didn't. My HD screen looked like spatter art or a very colorful patchword quilt. After several attempts to reboot, I called and was told there was no record of an outage here (Garfield & PPW)
A second call in late afternoon and the robot message then said there was an outage in Carroll Gardens and Park Slope.
This morning, no recorded message but no reception either and the customer service guy confirmed the outage was still being worked on.
A reminder to all whose service is out: once it's restored, you can call and get a credit for the time you were without it.
I have a second, non-HD set and that service was OK during all this though I haven't checked it this morning.
  • fyi - that's called "pixelating"....just in case you need to cut to the chase when telling them what's wrong.
  • No, I know what pixilating looks like. This was nothing like that. Nor was the screen that greeted me last week when I turned it on: horizontal hot pink and green alternating stripes.
  • OMG-I live on Garfield & PPW, and am having the EXACT problem as you, and have been having the same dance with Time Warner. And yes, my non-HD TV is working fine (altho it was also out for a few hours yesterday). Coincidentally, I had an electronics guy here this afternoon, and he finally got the TV to work, however, only on non-HD stations. Calling Time-Warner, as always has been a hair pulling experience. Whatever the problem is, they are "still working on it". Thinking of changing to Verizon Fios.
  • Read my "Time Warner Can Suck It" post and look near the end where you will find the phone numbers for the advocate group. This is the only way to get results - however, they will check the notes on your account to make sure you have tried customer service first (and it sounds like you have)

  • For what it's worth, the TV was working again this morning. For the whole weekend, my cable box said "L-13". Only once out of the 3 calls I made to Time Warner did their automated message at the beginning announce that cable was out in the Slope.
I called and got a whopping credit of $12.37 on my next bill, for having no service for 3 days.
